Back head gasket
1995 3100 Auto.
I notice spots of oil on my driveway and started to see my oil level drop.
I look around on top and on the bottom. The oil pan had oil on it but was on the back side.
So I went to napa and got some oil dye. Did the test and saw that it was running down the back side of the oil pan. Looked farther up and I saw my head gasket leaking. Its right by where you would have a dist. I am asking really should I put in stop leak. Im not a fan of it but its also not a bad leak. Or of course pull the heads and fix right. The only problem i see is well the exhaust would need to come off for me to pull the heads. Kinda not liking that. Think that every bolt is going to break off. I am also think in pulling the engine thinking it might be a lot easier. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Did you say where the distributor would be? The oil pump drive is in there. Stop leak isn't a good idea. If you are not going to take the engine apart Slick 50 may at least slow the leak, it should be put in on a oil change. But if you are going to put any new parts inside the engine don't put the Slick 50 in. Let me put it this way, the engine must have a over bore just to get that stuff off. The new moving parts won't be worn in right.

IM going to do some major work on her next week, ball joints and just suspension work and body. But I am goin to pull the valve cover and check the head bolts for proper tourqe. It had a rebuild maybe 2 to 3 years ago, so maybe they got loose. Ill take a much better look at it next week (tuesday)

If you didn't change the oil pump drive on the rebuild now would be a good time. It may save money and heartbreak down the road.

That engine is also notorious for lower intake manifold gasket failure.

Low PSI, yes that is the oil pump drive. Take care of it ASAP. I have gone through this my self. I thought it was the leaking oil pressure sender, I replaced it and still had low pressure.

Lower intake is what when out on it like 2 years ago. Did rebuilt didn't replace oil pump drive. Not sure if replaced o ring. The oil is new and new filter. I have some issues with getting hot quick. I plan on getting the oil leak fixed today and hopefully the cooling problem.

Well here it is. Somewhat! Leak fixed. That o ring was so dry. It cracked when it came off.
Low Oil PSI is at 20 Psi when engine is hot? Normal?

not terrible. GM has a set minimum standerd of 1 psi per 100 RPM so a minimum of 10 psi at 1000 RPM, 20 at 2000, etc.
