coolant level sensor

Post by scrappy »

I swapped motors in my beretta and after I got it started, the coolant low light is on. I believe I got all the connections hooked back up, but I also have a bad gauge cluster. Where is the CLS or is it just my gauge cluster bad?

Make sure you are using the right sensors and if you are (Make sure you dbl check) using the right ones, just rapid the tank on the lower side of the rad. right near the sensor there.  Dont beat it, just tap it with a screw driver handle.  Make sure the exhaust didnt burn up any of your wires for the coolant system ( seen it done ) .  Check your levels for the fluid (maybe you didnt top it off) .

Hey James, it's also possible that the wire to your coolant level sensor was damaged.  The sensor measures resistance to ground, and if there is too much resistance the light will come on.

I reused all the origional sensors so  I know it Has the right ones. I might have forgotten to hook up the sensor though.
1988, are you talking about on the radiator or on the overflow tank?

The sensor is on the radiator unless you're using a newer pressurized overflow tank (which your '89 didn't come with originally).
