I have an '89 GTU that had a 2.8 in it. that engine broke the crank so I replaced it with a 3100 out of a '99 lumina. I reused the intake & FI from the 2.8L. Can I put the PROM from a '90 Beretta that came with the 3.1 in my computer? Or should I get a Hypertech chip for it? If I go the Hypertech rout, which model year chip should I use? Thanks for the help.

I can tell you right off the bat that a chip such as Jet/hypertech is a waste of time.   You might want to look into a custom chip by Ben/FFP.

How can I get in touch with ben/FFP? For the meantime  will the PROM for a '90 work in my computer? It runs with the 2.8 PROM but I want more and the 3.1 prom should use more of the engine's potential.

yes it will work. I know a guy that put the 3.1 prom on his 2.8 in a celebrity stationwagon, and he said it made a pretty noticeable difference.

You'll need the prom from a automatic if yours is an automatic and a 5spd if its a 5spd.

I don't think FFP still does chips. In fact they haven't for a while now.

Check out www.60degreeV6.com

They do custom chips.

Hypertech and Jet are a waste of money.

It may be worth it to ask FFP if they'll do one.  They may do it since it would only be one.  Their chips are the best hands down.

FFP was selling Bens chips, he doesn't work with them anymore, just go to ben's store.
