It corrects shifting issues that the 4t60e's had which makes them last longer i believe, it's not exactly a "shift kit" but there is an improvement, for even better shifting you can shim your accumulator springs with washers 1/8"-3/8" and also a dual stripe adjustable vacuum modulator to up your transmission line pressure would help.
Someone with more transmission experience/knowledge could answer this better

You answered it quite well... It fixes the problems with the trans as well as firms up the TCC engagement some... it's not a performance kit in any way but will help the longevity of the trans if that's what your out for.

I don't believe it would benefit me to do this to mine then, I have an aftermarket transmission cooler and I use full synthetic ATF with no unusual issues.

Gracias!

It never hurts to improve the faults of the transmission... even if you run synthetic and a cooler. There are valve body issues that aren't fixed by those two.

Hmmm... this may be a summer project for me then. I have a transmission pan drain plug I've been dying to install anyways.

It never hurts to play doctor!

Before you tear it apart, you should take it to Bfest first!

Transgo 4T60E Shift Kit?

Post by whiteretta »

I picked an adjustable vacuum modulator, what is the recommended method for adjusting these for a firmer shift on the 4T60E?

I did some internet research, but the responses were way too broad to make an accurate decision from.

Nevermind; I got mine adjusted properly. I turned mine 9.5 rotations in from the fully out position, the timing betweens the shifts is pretty much eliminated!

I did the same on my '89 Park Avenue, but I turned it 7.5. It still shifts fairly smooth, just the lag has been removed from the shifts.
