Cooling fan suggestions
So as some of you may recall the fan on my Quad tried to escape about a year ago, and did ALOT of damage. Radiator, both hoses, and a bloody mess!
The shop that repaired the car ( I was 200 miles away from home ) could not locate a new fan in the two days they had the car before I had to head home, so I have been driving it, the few times I actually take it out, without an operating fan. It's really not a big deal as it turns out with a brand new radiator it seems.
Any suggestions on a replacement? I DO NOT want a 20 year old used fan assembly. What could possibly go wrong? LOL!
And I really don't want alot of wiring and relays and such.
Anything plug and play available in the aftermarket that I am missing?
Cheers
1991 Quad FYI.

Hit up summit racing and purchase a universal fan. Re pin your old harness off the old one or slice and re solder to new one. 88GTRacer

Yes, they are readily available. I believe the style they list for the Beretta is the older style (square with 4 bolts). If you look it up for a 95-98 Grand Am, it shows the one with the two pegs and one bolt.3X00-Modified wrote:Do they sell new ones?

Re: Cooling fan suggestions
I looked on rockauto.com and couldn't find them as a complete assembly.
Mine is the older style obviously.
I will have to look again.
Thanx Cliff

Re: Cooling fan suggestions
For whatever reason they don't list them for the Quad, but they're all the same as far as I know...

Re: Cooling fan suggestions
Not all the same. Quads have less room, fan is slimmer. As far as I know the quads never had the square style fan, only the round one pictured above. Even my '90 had the round one.
Something must have got in the way of / hit the fan blades to have it shatter like that... Theres no way it could just explode on its own. I have a couple working fans in good shape, you can have one. It's not going to happen again, lol.

Re: Cooling fan suggestions
I am guessing what happened is the bearing failed while the fan was on, the fan hit the rad, broke apart, and bits started flying around.
I had driven a couple of hours with the A/C on so it was likely getting hot.
25 year old parts do fail.
