PROM Chip differences?

Post by Beretta1234567 »

Motorvation chip:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mvc-1 ... el/beretta

Hypertech Chip:
http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/Hypert ... -2/799605/

Jet Chip:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/jet-1 ... el/beretta

My question would be, how can I find out which chip has the most aggressive tune for the stock engine?

any other differences between the chips?

Goto a tuning shop, put the car on a dyno and have one made.

Yeah, those marketed chips are all garbage... It would be interesting for someone to pull all the tunes and compare them though but seeing how no one has done that and there are no proven dyno chart improvements I'd agree with themixer.

I thought someone here did a looking into either Jet or Hypertech way back when and found basically a fan temp change and something else very minuscule.

Well, I had a motorvation chip I bought and noticed a difference in acceleration.

I'm trying Hypertech this time. I bought one with no EGR and fan temp changed.

Either way, I want my fan temps lowered and no EGR.

I figure I will see the differences between hypertech and Motorvation later.

Do dyno shops still burn PROM chips anymore?
I know of a place that does OBD2 tuning, but I have never seen custom OBD1 prom tuning/burning.

WOT-Tech does custom chips. Find them on 60degreev6. They run about $100 and he is willing to change the tune anytime for nothing IIRC. I am running one and love it!!!

I made an oops in my last post. I bought a WOT-Tech chip.

I typed the wrong brand. Fail.

I cant wait to get the chip though. I am excited to see the improvements over the stock programming.

Thats nice ti hear they will change the programming. I might never need it but i like the idea if it ever becomes needed.

Ben knows what he's doing, unlike whoever at hypertech was responsible for the calibration that was in the 85 IROC.... that one is depressing to look at. At least it came in the ECM rather than me paying for it.
