Hey guys, I'm trying to find info for a 34/3500 top swap. Im sticking with my 2.2 build but my wife sometimes complains about a lack of power in our 03 impala. I did some digging on good ol JBO and found that is has been done but I dont see specifics as to what I would need. So far all I know is I need the UIM, LIM anything else or does that sound about right? And hell I might try a tailpipe turbo if I ever get the funds and time.

3400 to 3500 intake won't make much difference, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth the effort if that is what you want to do. Personally, I wouldn't bother, especially if I had it in mind to eventually do a turbo install (which should fit fine in your wider Impala engine-bay, so no need to compromise with an RMT (Remote-Mount Turbo) setup. If you do decide you want to do the 3500 intake, consider also that it uses an electronic throttle body, so you will need to swap that out with a cable-type unit (I want to say that the LX5 3.5 DOHC "Short Star" V-6 found in some Auroras and other cars has a cable-type direct bolt-on, but research that yourself, I am not sure). Good luck, have fun.

Yeah I'm starting to think maybe just a turbo. I'm seeing people do it but no one is posting results. A friend mentioned the obvious 3800 S/C swap but for the money, and the few additional bolt ons that I would do, I could make the same power with a turbo.

If your Impala had started out with the 3800, then bolting-on the parts for the supercharger or going turbo is easy and makes sense, otherwise swapping the 90-degree V-6 into your car is not cheap as you need everything, including the bay's harness for the 3800 (they are managed very differently than a 3400 -or 3100 for that matter). The 3400 is a good engine, if you keep on top of the LIMG problem -I personally like the 3800s better at this point, but that is just preference. Turbo-charging your 3400 will give you all the power your Impala needs, but then you may be unhappy with the four-cylinder in your Beretta... IT NEVER ENDS! :runsies: :D

I was just thinking about the LIMG as its about time to change it (got it with 123k and it just rolled 140). As for now the 4 cylinder will do as far as learning how to build an engine then if/when that blows up I'm considering a turbo eco swap.
