Want to know how to get more out of your Beretta? Or have a mod you would like to share?

Rear drum to disks.

Post by Dyceman »

Has anyone ever done a Drum to disk conversion? I have a 90 GTZ and really want to convert from drums to disks, Alas I do not and have not been able to find any info on this. Thank you all in advance for the help!

Yes, it has absolutely been done. There is a sticky thread (second from the top) in the Brakes section. Typical swap is based on Dodge Neon rear brake setups, there are several members who have done it successfully. There has been talk of using Pontiac Fiero rear brakes instead, as they also use the 5x100mm wheel lug patterns, and are at least GM.

The under-addressed (not quite UN-addressed) concern is the higher operating pressure required by disc vs drum brakes, and the swaps usually don't alter the master cylinder output pressure to the rears. However, people who have done the swap don''t seem to think it is a problem... Good luck.
