EWith roll cage and heavier engine, offset with aluminum subframe and suspension components I don't expect to exceed stock weight of a V6 Beretta.  So, yes there will be quite a difference in weight between the two cars.  Not sure if center of gravity will have an effect on suspension choice or more on stabilizer bars, but I expect it to move upward compared to the C5.
Ah I C...you have thought this thru...sleepless nights hmmn?
It will be definately nice if you can stay below 31XX lbs...very possible just have to be weight conscious...
Another quick question...do you plan on increasing track width? (too many possibilities   )

The C5 track width is slightly wider, an inch or so, than the stock Beretta.  But the Beretta had more than a few different tire sizes, so it will be increase slightly at the least.

Coming a long nicely indeed

I have question, where does the stripped Beretta reside compared to the Vette?  It appears this is going on inside a shed/barn?

Too cool. I bet you'll end up more heavy than a stock Beretta. I think of it this way, Corvette, remove fiberglass body, set metal Beretta uni-body on it, it's gotta be heavier! I say at least over the weight of a stock L body, and probably over the weight of a stock Corvette!! Unless you have some tricks up your sleve?

Anywho, great to see such progress!

z284, it is an unfinished garage.

With regards to the weight...I removed about 1,400 lbs. in the current jack-standed position.  It is basically a shell with painted sheet metal.  Even teeters back-and-forth on the uneven floor/jack-stand.  Not sure what the rolling gear weighs but it should be about 1300 lbs. with engine and trans/diff.  You can do the math.

Hmm I did the math and ended up with stock beretta weight. But you gotta add the interior back in there...
Are you leaving this a drag car (no interior) or are you going to make it look like a nice drivable streetcar?

Z04 ground effects, and a 2" cowl hood with those vette wheels would look AWESOME! (and a fiberglass cowl hood would shave more weight off)

The weight removed doesn't include interior.  Very good, grasshopper.

I am guessing 10 years newer interior is not going to heavier than the Beretta which was pretty heavy with radio/climate control.  Even with computers and wiring for HVAC, windows...

How about some carnage photos?  Jim cut out the airbags with a knife, but I did not take a pic.  He was removing the rear left fender liner and found some masonary that I know was not used as sound deadening.    There is a few more pieves still in there.  The right rear wheel was bent as you can see in one of the previous photos.  In this batch is a picture of the broken hub.  Another pic shows a rock that has gone half way through the floor.

I assume the air bags had gone off. If not you should of set them off at distance, perhaps put a stuffed animal on top and see how far it launched it! hehe. roflol @ the rock. Looks like it was vacuum formed over it!

What are you planning on doing with the engine? 350hp is by all means great, but with a huge list of parts available for LS1s, modding it out at least a little bit seems about as logical as dropping a Beretta body on a Corvette frame.

Norm needs to put twin turbos on like Leno did on that Toronado. 1100 whp, that'd be nice.

And I'm sure they would both have one hell of a time getting that to hook up on the little 215 tires, thats if that Toronado even has that wide of tires, when I watched the show, they were using stockers.  Unless it has some major meats now, that would be one fun ride to hook up

The airbags were already discharged.  So Jim cut them to get them out of our way.

It will not make big power as big power is not reliable, especially at higher RPMs for the road course stuff that I plan.  It will also provide as a daily driver, so streetability is the key.
