Swaping out a 3.1 for a Quad

Post by 31GTZ92 »

Hey guys, I was just wondering how hard it would be to swap out my 3.1L V6 for a Quad 4.  Like would you have to do any cutting or would it be just a bolt in place swap.  Thanks for your time and help.

Well... It should fit.  You will need to do some engine mount work.  PLus new PCM engine harness.  I would think.  I know there are some smarter people in that area.  ALso what year is your car?

And why?  Any Plans?

WHY would you want to do this? A properly tuned 3.1 should give a quad a run for its money any day, assuming its a 5speed. If you want more power, 3x00 swap is what you want to do, not only is it easier, but it won't lead to severe dissappointment.

I'm gonna lay out on that give it a run comment.  I'd put in a 3400 before a Quad though.

Thanks For the help,  My car is a '92.  This is going to be my first car but it just seemed to me that you can do more to a quad but if its better to keep the 3.1 I'll just keep that.  I want to get custom headers made,  A cold air intake, add a turbo later on and some other things.  I also want to swap out the rear drum brakes for disks.  Thanks for your Help.    Jon

By the way,  What r u working on nowadays Rex??  please let me know.
