Shock tower brace install

Post by Guest »

I just received a shock tower brace that I got off of eBay and I have a question. Do I install the brace between the car body and retainers or do I discard the retainers because there are brackets on the end of the new brace? Thanks......

I put the brace on this morning and left the old retainers off since all the brace is, is a metal bar with retainers welded to the ends as brackets.

So your the one who won the auction..How much did it finally go for?

I kept the retainers on top of the brace and mine is bluit somewhat like yours. Just my personal preference.

Retainers? You lost me, can you go in to detail?
The only extra thing I can think of is a bracket. The one that holds the 2 fuel lines. Thats on the driver side.

Adam: It says "shock" tower brace. Not strut. Were talking in the back of the trunk. Not under the hood. I didn't catch it at first either hehe.

The auction closed with the price of $46. I'll put the retainers back on like you suggested. Thanks.

Anyone know the source of that "shock" tower brace? was is once a mantapart unit? custom made? I'd be interested even at a slightly higher price for an unused one.

I left my retainers off, they're just a big washer, i don't think they do anything sitting on top of the brace mounts so i just left them off. Again, thats just my preferance.

I would be willing to make these. I made one for me and they could be recreated in short time. It would be a one peice not welded one though which by my understanding means stronger. Let me know who would want one possibly.

Yeah I'd be interested (thats why I asked) only question I have has to do with clearance under the brace. I'm guessing the brace you make would be straight across (for strength) which might put a damper on my sub purchase. Then again I'm still thinking of the little room in the Corsy's trunk and I know the Beretta's is a bit larger.

Keep me posted on these braces

I'd want to see pictures first.  Looks will play a huge role in my decision of whether or not to buy one.

Marks Rear Brace

The silver tubing was added temporaliy, it was replaced with angle iron, but he probally won't make those w/ the brace, or they will be an extra option i would gather.

You can see my brace here....
its a not as snazzy looking as marks, but it does the job
