The evolution of this car is pretty epic woody.
I find it interesting that the OG's look even better on a retto than an E36.

i would like to take this opportunity to state my dislike for rust. It actually makes me feel physically ill.

I'm not letting this one go, not yet... it's still manageable. If I do end up doing that down the road, I'll find a rust free one and swap everything over.
Dropped the rear axle/suspension last night and removed the front knuckles. Surprisingly, I had zero issues removing the axle bolts... I thought they were going to be rusted inside the bushing sleeve.

Amazingly every one I've taken apart on the rear axle hasn't been rusted in the sleeve... Including my red car.

Re: Not your average Z26... a resurrection
Yup, boner mounts are on my workbench haha.
Now that the trans is out, I can get to removing the old mount and prepping/welding the new ones in.
Trans out and split
EP Diff Removed (the axle clips were a PITA to remove). I'm going to talk to Jeff about modifying the plates that the axles clip into to have more chamfer on them then what they have.
Jon, should I be concerned about the marks on the plate here? I was going to send it back to Jeff while it's out anyways.
Now that the diff is out, I can take some measurements for comparison purposes. I have an idea...

Not sure what marks your referring to but if I don't see anything then I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Not your average Z26... a resurrection
Also dropped the gas tank yesterday too. I'll be looking for a replacement - I'm a bit afraid of getting an aftermarket because of the issues I've heard Tyler having with starvation due to the baffle location inside the tank.
Spectra has a tank/sending unit/tank straps kit available, but if Spectra units were the ones causing problems with starvation, I'd rather go to the junkyard and find a decent tank. Corsica's use the same tanks right?

Re: Not your average Z26... a resurrection
I've had one spectra tank. Bought it new for a beretta.
Long story short, it leaked at its seams. Was a metal smaller style tank.
The spectre sending unit assembly was fine. Float read accurate and have had no leaks with it nor accumulation of rust.

Re: Not your average Z26... a resurrection
Tyler just did a new setup using a Holley Hydramat and an external Walbro 255 pump... That would probably resolve any issues with the newer style baffling. He has also had issues with a 100% stock tank and stock pickup... me on the other hand I'm currently running a Walbro 255 in the stock bucket fully intact and a stock tank and I can run down to the gauge equal with the red line and it will not go lean at WOT, at least not for short bursts... I'm sure if I tried to run it that low at the strip I'd have an issue eventually. SO I wouldn't put too much weight on his starvation issues with the aftermarket tank since even the stock style didn't fix his problem, He may just be requiring WAY too much fuel for how the whole setup is designed and hopefully the hydramat idea works better.
