Right by the lip can be knocked out, but will not look good. Going to have to take out the interior to get to the front part. That is if there is nothing in the way(which there should be). Over all to save time a "new" panel would be best.
Not sure what you are using, my keyboard will not do that.

Stud gun would do it. And don't be afraid of filler. If you do it right with a good quality one it will be fine.
