Ha, think I found the error, one injector resistance was 4.5, the 5 others were 11.9-12.8. Assembled the engine with the low ohm injector not connected, and it now starts and runs fine on 5 cylinders. So, 6 new injectors, and hopefully that will be that!

That's VERY common of these injectors... One will fail and it will take out the whole bank 3 of 6 since its wired in MPFI and the way the resistance is calculated wired that way.. I'm very surprised GM did not Ohm check the injectors.

Also black soot plugs is a sign of rich condition, too much fuel, not no spark... No spark would be wet and clean since there is no ignition at all.

"I'm very surprised GM did not Ohm check the injectors." Oh, but they did. But the mechanic told me in a sure voice that it didn't matter, it would just mean that the low ohm injector would open a split second earlier. I told him to try with only 5 wires attached. He never did. It's going to be interesting what they see fit to charge me for those hours they spent going the wrong way...

I hate mechanic's lately... gently caressing idiots who won't listen or research anything.

Would anybody have access to a perhaps junked Beretta 3.1 or similar? I need the last bit of the wiring harness going to the injectors. It starts at the back of the engine over the valve covers, 4 wires, then it snakes in under the hat and is split into the 12 wires/6 injectors.

Appreciated

I have, in the back of my garage, a spare 3.1 motor I picked up for my 88 Beretta.
It's buried in the corner behind a car but if nobody comes up with one, I guess I could dig it out
for the harness. I'll keep an eye on your post.

ifixalot (great name), if you could get it for me, I'd appreciate it. How much for having it sent to my friend in CA that ships to me?

Maybe pm me?

The harness could be reproduced easily with some new wire and pins!

My spare engine didn't have the correct harness. He still needs this part.
