3500 '88 GTU in Ohio! $1000 Running
Re: 3500 '88 GTU in Ohio! $1000 Running
I mean, the car can look just fine from the bottom, when jacked up. Because that was factory underbody coated. But that deos not mean the rocker panels are fine too, because they lack in rust protection. He is stating "no rust under the car".scd88ga wrote:The rocker panels are part of the underbody... So this must be one of those special rusted out rust free cars.

I could use a cheap crap rocket, however, I also know better than taking over someone else's project....
Good luck to whomever buys it, hopefully it's someone here.

kurt, i think you should grab it. yes it is someone else's project, but you already know your way around the vehicle before looking at it, and the engine bay, even if you are not familiar with that particular setup, i'm sure you would figure out if something is not quite right, and make it right. and it's a GTU, that there (if it's in half decent shape, is worth $1k), the engine and tranny is bonus~!
4th one's a charm, 5th one is, beginnning to sound like this is an addiction...

I really want to see this car in person. But I already have plans with my extra money, so I'm more than willing to check this car out for anybody interested. Shoot me a PM. I have time this Sunday and I will actually be in Dayton the following Sunday.

Haha, I'm not going to go to Ohio to buy it and then have to try and drive it back to Iowa. Nor am I going to invest in driving the gas guzzler over there and trailering it back - add another $1000 easy to the car price. Not worth it to take on a headache.

I see that car as something perfect for a local or nearby community member. Buy it because it's fast, not because it's a GTU and not to as a car to restore.
Regardless of how the pros and cons read, I see some red flags in the ad that would make me not want to take on that car with that particular swap because of the distance. If it was in Iowa, I probably would have bought it, and trailered it home already.
I wonder if that is 6r8ph1x's car that Milzy had been worked on? Or some other member who had a red GTU that had some Milzy work done?

Looks like the car's still up on there... it's right by where I go to school at, I've thought about it myself but my tax returns are all going towards schooling.

well it is Ohio the where the cars are rusty and the wheels are shiny lmfao i've seen the most hidious of cars in Ohio and makes me wonder how they are still legal to drive oh wait oh yeah no inspection lolGTZfan wrote:What I see, besides the high miles, is the rocker rost which literally stands out on the picture. Usually its hard to see it on photos which do not actually show the rockers...looks like it quite rotted.
