Yeah, been busy lately...my mom had a stroke last week, but she's doing well. I do have a whole shitload of parts and stuff to post up. I'll do that soon.

At least my man trans shifter is connected to the trans with a solid bar. Yes I'm talking about my 5-speed daily car.

Well I have two man trans shifters that are bolted directly on top of the transmission. And one of those has 6 forward gears.
Just now digging into why the reverse lights no longer work after the rebuild from Midwest Trans. I see how it's supposed to work and the bar does contact the switch, but there's just enough slop to not close the switch. Same deal with a brand new switch. Works when plunging by hand, but not with the bar in the trans. I think the easiest way to get around that is going to be to chuck the switch in the lathe at work and turn down the face a little bit so the plunger sits deeper in the trans. I'll try it with the old switch first so I have the new one as a backup.
But enough about the trans for now...I got a bunch of engine parts to play with. I bought the Wot-Tech Stage 2 heads & intakes from Tyler. Some queer vandalized the UIM with profanity, but I'm not using it anyway so whatever. Heads look nice. Chambers look as good of quality as my AFR small block heads and the exhaust looks even better, but the intake runners aren't quite as nice.
I CC'd the WOT heads and the stock heads to figure compression ratio and because I was curious about the runners. Results were surprising.
The stock 2004 #12580234 head was 28cc chamber, 111cc intake runner and 70cc exhaust. Pistons are 28cc.
The WOT ported older #10218170 head was 28.5cc chamber, 114-116cc intake runners and 71cc exhaust.
Not much volume difference in these heads. Hoping they are worth the money. By comparison, most SBC heads are 155-170cc intake runners with 1.94/1.50" valves, and the AFRs I bought are 195cc with 2.05/1.60" valves. A lot easier to see where the extra flow comes from there...
Figured I'd test the valve sealing on #6 for gigs. If it won't hold in water at 0psi, it sure as hell aint gonna hold in air at 180...
Depending on whether I go with a stock head gasket or a Cometic, C/R will be 9.55 or 9.83:1.

Intake ports are not supposed to be polished like the exhaust. You want them to have texture to keep the fuel suspended in the air. That's been pretty common for porting the intake side for a while from Ben.

Just kidding. Fan shroud hack job pics. Car puked coolant at the burnout contest last year before the gauge showed it being that hot. But...I did have the gauge sensor in the block and not the head like factory. And 4-5000rpm sitting still is probably gonna get warm when you're only cooling one circle of the rad with the fan. Sooooooooo I drilled a head for the temp sensor and bought a 18x26x1" cafeteria tray to cut up.
Step 1: Buy tray
Step 2: Mock up and cut
Step 3: Make brackets and fasten fan to tray
Step 4: Lathe fan to down to pull air from entire tray
Step 5: Fan shroud

Fits great but needed trimmed narrower on each side to fit. I wonder how much better the factory fan cools with the shroud you made.
