So the cencensus here is that moving the bottom mount hole an inch still dosent offer the right axle alignment? Thats all I planned on doing...

Maybe im just tired, but i got lost in that conversation.

Nope, that's correct and you didn't get lost.

Cliff, so your car is an 89 with a 3400? Then you shouldn't have any axle alignment issues if your car was originally a 5sp right? Just the dogbone length thing cause of the 3100 dogbone bracket right?

I'm getting frustrated.

Ok, cars that were originally a 5spd don't have any problems. A hole was still needed to be drilled into the engine bracket (as I pictured) because the bracket for the 2.8/3.1 does not bolt up to the 3400. So to maintain the axle alignment in a 5spd car, you must drill a hole in the 3x00 engine bracket as I have pictured.

Cars that were automatics converted over (just the 92-96 cars) need to have a 5spd upper mount (by the power steering pump). It will change the axle alignment, but apparently not a huge difference, because I'm sure I would have noticed an issue in the 5+ years I've had my car completed... not to mention all the others that have done the swap. Oversight on my part; I guess I never thought to look into it since my car wasn't breaking axles or anything.

That doesn't exclude them from having to drill an extra hole in the bracket. That still needs to be done, because all the aftermarket dogbones that have been created are all the same length.

If a short one can be made, then the extra hole is not needed because it can use the stock hole in the bracket.

Hopefully that clears up any of the issues we have here.

Yes, my car has NO alignment issues what so ever.  I just want to add in the torque strut on the passenger side like the 92-96 without having to drill a hole (which is required on any 3100/3400/3500 5-speed!).  That was the whole point of my post.

It looks like the other guys who have the 92-96s that convert to a 5-speed need to get an upper mount off a 93 V6 5-speed (only one still available new)

Ok, that's what I thought, but Geoff, why is your torque strut alignment changed if you didn't change the passenger mount? (unless maybe you changed the subframe?)

The people with 94-96 with 5spd swap could get a  new aluminum T made, that moves the engine back 1". Billet aluminum or eve just cut it out of steel would work. Then you could keep the good 95-96 mount, instead of doing a 93 mount 94 T hybrid. Perhaps that would be a product we could offer if we have the material already since I doubt there is enough interest to sell enough of a whole new batch of material..

Im all for perfection, but does it really matter much? If you think about it, the cv shafts are almost NEVER perfectly aligned. Most of the time your turning slightly, the suspension is moving up and down, the motor is moving under the hood, everything is always changing, so I dont see this small alignment issue a problem.

Like heavywoody said, his has been running for years without an issue.

Im just going to move the lower dogbone and call it a day...

Steph, if all goes well, I'll have them in my hands by the end of this week. Then I can fill them with poly over the weekend and start shipping out.

Because the drivers side mount is in the correct 5-speed location, that's why.  The engine sits at an angle.

Yeah, but the mount on the motor for the dogbone on the passenger side would be moved forward more if it was twisting, thus needing a longer dogbone... Know what I'm saying? Unless it's rotating the motor forward like if you were in reverse and hammering it...

The trans mount and the other torque strut on the drivers side can probably overpower that hydraulic mount on the passenger side.

How soon will you have the bushings for the one I want?  My swaybar hitting my exhaust is getting annoying.
