BerettaFest 2014: St. Louis, Mo!
GOOD LORD it seems I'm late with this, but here it is for your consideration.
St. Louis was founded by French fur traders in 1764. Soon after control over St. Louis and the entire Louisiana Territory transferred to the Spanish, then back to France again. Napoleon sold the Louisiana Territory to Thomas Jefferson in 1803. With this transaction, the size of the United States doubled. Nicknamed “The Gateway to the West” St. Louis was just that, a central stop on the road westward for gold and glory. In honor of St. Louis’ huge contribution to westward expansion numerous civic leaders planned a grand World’s Fair in 1904. The Louisiana Purchase Exhibition was held in Forest Park (where we hope to have our picnic and car show) and drew an audience of over 20 million people from 43 different countries.
We have an itinerary full of fun and historical ventures as well as numerous alternatives. The relatively central location of St. Louis is a plus as well. Hopefully attendance will be at a high point if this proposal is chosen. The weather smiles upon us as well with an average daily temperature of 76 Degrees in June and a 68 percent chance of sunshine on our trip. June happens to be the second warmest month with the most days of sunshine for St. Louis.
With such a rich heritage and plenty to do and see, I believe St. Louis has plenty to offer Beretta Fest. Personally, I picked St. Louis as I have been there before and the idea of visiting again warms my heart. Looking over the river that helped to shape all of the United States is breath taking. The view from the top of the Gateway Arch is simply unbelievable. As you can see there is no drag racing in this itinerary. As interest dwindles year to year and tracks seem to be harder and harder to secure, I have simply left it out of the equation.
There are numerous hotels to choose from in the area varying in quality and cost. Hotel costs seem to range anywhere from $60.00 to $100.00 a night. Keep in mind sharing a room cuts cost quite a bit. It is too early to get any sort of definitive cost, but we should do well no matter where we go with a group rate.
The entire proposed itinerary is about 35 - 40 miles from where we can secure a hotel.

Free time to roam the city further, plan a group meal, take a night cruise... whatever!
