400hp is a bit more fun than 160
I drove the Camaro yesterday for the first time in ages... like two months. God I missed it so much. I took it to the local yearly car show and raised some hell... uncapped the cut outs for the show cruise and did some tire smoking. haha
I've been driving Tiffany's Subaru because it is not an annoying, cold-blooded pain-in-the-@$$ for daily driving with a loud clunk on every shift ever since the new rear end build. I've been so busy with the Beretta for months and months that I didnt have time to fix the clunk noise, but I tore it apart Friday and fixed it finally after lots of parts that checked out fine and additional mental troubleshooting. Turns out the plate I welded to the rear end for the all-steel spring perch location was apparently not quite thick enough. You couldnt see any gap when installed, but the shock plate must have bottomed out on the perch before it clamped down on the leaf spring adequately. I took off the shock plates, installed 1/8" spacers under the leaf springs and all is well with nice solid mounts! This is the first it has been right after grenading the stock rear in October.
Just wanted to post something positive after being thoroughly annoyed with the car for what seems like forever. I grabbed a couple pics for [shits & giggles. Now she should be ready for some 12-sec slips! Next project is to install my RacePumps super duper mechanical fuel pump and new regulator, etc along with a choke on the 750 carb. I ordered everything I needed from Summit a week or two ago and forgot two damn AN fittings. Once that is all done and I get the carb tuning all sorted out I'd like to spray it into the 11s, but that's probably a 2010 thing...
Camaro goes woo wooooo!

The car was born in 1980, but it has GM parts from 79-04... plus the aftermarket stuff. haha
Been driving it every day since Saturday until today. It was raining like bastard this morning, which doesnt work well with drag radials, wiper delete and heater core delete. So it was the stupid Scoobie.

I must say that my dream 2nd gen is a 80 or 81 Z-28. To date I have had a first gen and a third gen. None were as nice as yours.
keep'em flying!

I had those wheels on my chevelle, but I painted them bright aluminum. Get rid of those heavy suckers and throw some lightweight aluminum ones on there. I know my rears with 275/60 street tires were almost 60 pounds.
Hope your going vacuum secondaries on the carb. Mechanical suck for a street car unless it is lightweight or has serious gears and a converter.

Its a stick, IIRC his Gear ratio is very decent high coming out but 6th gear is nice to have... And the final thing, this is far from a street car... Re: 400hp is a bit more fun than 160
I drive it 95/5% street/strip. The drag radials and hairy cam can make it a pain in the ass on the street now and then, but for the most part it's still a good cruiser. I've been driving it almost every day the last couple weeks.
It has an Edelbrock 750cfm carb with mechanical secondaries. It does have 4.10 gears though and whatever stall my left foot tells it to. The wheels are heavy, but it has enough power that it doesnt really matter. I am in the market for some 18x8s & 18x10s once I can find a set with the correct backspacing for Nitto 255/45 and 295/45ZR18s. The 275/60 drag radials kill any cornering ability because in reality they are too wide for the 7" wheel on the street. They hook up great in a straight line, but they flex way too much under side load.
It has never lost a street race either.. even to big blocks.

haha yeah you had to pick that video.
haha just watched the drifting in the snow subaru video. i did alot of that this winter too.
i got the problem fixed now though it runs tits and sounds awesome i put the flowmaster back on.
looks like it was either something with the ICM or coil packs. i just swapped both out and it pulls with no issues.

yeah a day that car will never forget. haha well have to make the timeslips disappear to. but at least she filmed it to the bitter end.
i wish i had a different set of coil packs with me that day. i had the msd ones i ran before but when i tried them on this car a few weeks ago it ran like crap i couldnt give it more than like 10% throttle.
