BerettaFest 2012 Location Proposals: OPEN
As most of you know, we will be moving to a new format for voting and proposals starting next year. For those who don't know yet, keep posted. We will post up the "new" rules sometime in the coming months after we select a location for 2012. We are moving forward for 2012 early so that we can transition easier, and have even more time to plan the best BerettaFest yet!
Before I post the official rules, I MUST stress the
importance of backing up your proposal. If you post a proposal, you will be
REQUIRED to assist the committee in planning the event. It is very difficult to
put on a quality event if we do not have someone local to help us out. This
should not be taken lightly, as you can potentially affect up to 100 people's
experience at the event - good or bad.
Official Bfest '12 Proposal Rules:
For your proposal to be officially accepted (by myself and/or other
committee members) you need to abide by a few ground rules to keep this as
simple as possible for everyone involved. Plus- the better organized the
proposal,
the better chance it has to win!
1. All proposals MUST be posted at minimum to the mailing list.
Proposals posted on the message board are good, but you still must post
to the email list. Any proposals submitted ONLY to the board will NOT
be accepted. This ensures that our attendees who DO NOT look at the message board will have the opportunity to view the choices.
2. Your proposal needs to have backround info done on hotels in the
area. Are there many to choose from? What is the price range? You could go a
step further and get group price rates, scout out parking, and if the
neighborhood is nice. YOU MUST NOT GIVE OUT SPECIFIC HOTEL INFO TO THE LIST.
Keep your info "generic" so that the hotel identity can be kept confidential.
3. Activities: Group- look for things that we could tour as a group.
Is there a car plant nearby? Big accesory shop or performace parts shop
(GM Heritage Center, Comp Cams, Extrude Hone, Petty Motorsports)?? Or just
something that a variety of people will enjoy (Idianapolis Motor Speedway Tour)... keep the options open!
Free time- look for things more specific that people could
do in free time. Is there a touristy area that would be fun to visit?
Theme parks? Zoo? It is a good idea to keep this broad as well.
4. Optional Racing: Since our group is about 50/50 on drag racing, it is
still a worthwhile activity to have mapped out. Look into tracks, prices, drive
time, etc. Another thing to look at is other racing/driving opportunities. In
past Bfests we have road rallied, rented a road course, and autocrossed as well.
Autocrossing is a great alternative to drag racing. Look into possible autox
groups that would run events and talk to the organizers... perhaps we could get
an event set up for our weekend.
5. Local help: It is going to be a REQUIREMENT that your area
has local planners willing to help. I would hope that if you are proposing a
site that you would be the obvious choice for this... just don't shout out a
place if you aren't willing to back it up. If your proposal is accepted, you
MUST be willing to help the Bfest Committee in the pre event planning
throughout the year. You may be asked to run to different sites in the
area, and most importantly YOU WILL BE REPONSIBLE FOR THE DIRECTIONS.
We are looking to upgrade our directions over past years, and you WILL be
an integral part of this. We look forward to your help and input.
6. Tenative Schedule: put together a tenative schedule based on the
usual thursday through sat/sun format we have been running for the last few
years.
Proposals will be open from now until 10 pm CST on Friday August 19th. This gives all of you hopefuls 6 weeks to get this done. More than enough time! We will be holding location voting the week following, and should have the site for BerettaFest 2012 finalized by the beginning of September!
Good luck to all the proposals!!

Yeah yeah... 13.3 was rather pathetic this year... I'm sending the torque converter off to PDQ in a couple of weeks for a tweaking to it... trying to get more RPM range out of it and lessen my wheel spin issues.

My HO Quad wants to smoke more W41 fools, LOL. Make sure we have a good strip!
I actually have reason to believe my engine is a LO, or has LO cams, or LO pistons. So you guys have some explaining to do.

Still no one has any proposals?
8 days left...
It seems like we are going to have to extend the deadline since this is such a new operation on how early we need the proposals in.

Traverse City I hope? I'm sure you said something to me and I just don't remember. TC is one I would like to do (Sara talked about it too), but I don't even know where I'll be living next year... don't want to write it up and not be in the area to help.DTMAce wrote:I have something to offer, just not ready yet.

Obviously, yes! lolKyle Anderson wrote:Traverse City I hope? I'm sure you said something to me and I just don't remember. BTW, once we get around to voting, you guys might want to send out a "put your vote in" e-mail to members on the yahoo list and on the site, to be sure to get everyone's attention, in case some are not hovering around the boards. Just want to make sure that everyone gets a chance to make their vote, especially those who are interested in going.
