Re: Using a 93 GT as a 5speed swap Donor for my 95Z, and the

Ok, so I assume your vote would go to going with DHP? I'm trying to find tech specs on the 3500... I'm guessing that variations in hp and tq are due to the ECM/tuning car to car? I'd also like to know what the max over vote is and if anyone's beefed up the bottom end (rods and pistons, higher compre...

Re: Using a 93 GT as a 5speed swap Donor for my 95Z, and the

Congrats on the kid Geoff, must be a great feeling. I do have the writeup. I'm going to pick up my 5 speed swap donor car (93 GT) Monday. I think I've decided to go 3500 and OBD2. I'll snag an engine bay and dash harness from a 96, and then a 97 Monte ECM. Is there any real difference between going ...

Re: Using a 93 GT as a 5speed swap Donor for my 95Z, and the

Wow, I know even less than I thought I did, lol. Well, I guess I should rephrase what I meant by not necessarily "nailing" a memcal tune, but getting something that is "good enough" to drive around with no huge problems and still a healthy running car. The biggest thing that has ...

Re: Using a 93 GT as a 5speed swap Donor for my 95Z, and the

The way I'm kind of looking at it is to swap the 95Z to the entire 93's setup would be much simpler in terms of completing the 5 speed swap... No wiring to cut up or any kind of computer or electrical issues... And I don't know, to me pulling the memcal doesn't seem like that big of a chore compared...

Re: Using a 93 GT as a 5speed swap Donor for my 95Z, and the

That was something I should've specified, but I thought it would be understood I'd be going either 3400 or 3500 lol. Thanks for the input guys. Any thoughts on what the best route for tuning or OBD system choices on the 95Z would be? Jon I remember in the other thread I had on this car you recommend...

Using a 93 GT as a 5speed swap Donor for my 95Z, and then...

So I'm dying to swap the trans in my Z (among other things)... I've been contemplating what would be the best route to take to accomplish that... I know of several 92+ 3.1 5speed cars around for pretty cheap... I had the wild thought that perhaps I could buy one, and then swap almost everything from...

Re: Now I have Black Z26. Ho Ho Ho.

Thanks for the insight Jon, I had already taken a gander at both those threads last night. I'll more than likely commit to the trans swap, but that being said, from what you're saying, the only physical modifications that have to be done are swapping the crank trigger and then fabbing up some kind o...

Re: Now I have Black Z26. Ho Ho Ho.

Oh boy. My mind is just turning all kinds of wheels thinking of different routes I could go with this car. I was hoping I could just fix whatever little odds and ends with it and actually get to drive it around and enjoy it but if it ends up being that the trans is on it's way out or going to be a P...

Re: Now I have Black Z26. Ho Ho Ho.

I figured as much in regards to the RPM. I don't know much about 4t60e's or autos in general. I know you've been through one plenty of times (or the like), any ideas off the top of your head as to what I should look into?

Re: Now I have Black Z26. Ho Ho Ho.

It's pretty rough. The suspension and/or motor/trans mounts are shot. It has all the usual blemishes and flaws; sagging Z04 bumper, bubbled dash, wet carpet syndrome, broken cup holder, console lid busted, headliner is rough, window trim and weather stripping in rough shape, etc. etc. (I suppose you...

Are you calling me out Sir Wood Heavy? ; )

I actually had some questions for you since you also have a 95. (Playing with ideas in my head of how I could waste money on this car)...

Now I have Black Z26. Ho Ho Ho.

Finally.

Like 11 or 12 years later finally.

The end.

Re: Lookie here

Suspension (in most cases). Wheels. I can't remember if the cluster is different or not. I know 94+ is different from 91-93. Exhaust tips. Door panels are different too. The cloth filler piece is a different material. Whoopee, I know. Also the fog light switch/setup. Decals. All the little things ad...

Re: Lookie here

Thanks Retta, but yes, I am really looking for an actual Z26 car. It's just too much work to change a car to be exactly like what I'm looking for, plus I'd rather have what was considered one from the factory.

Re: Lookie here

It's framed but the glass is broken. It's pretty old and a bit faded obviously, but it'll look cool in my garage.

Seriously, if anyone has a Black Z26 or knows of someone who does, let me know. I REALLY want to buy one.
