Re: Coolant sensor reads low
thermostat stuck partially open. This explains why it behaved quite normally, though read low. Its a foreign car to me and 3 other gauges were acting funny from other bad sensors. The car has multiple problems. The new thermostat, a 195F from advance brings up the gauge to 4 bars, though I did see i...

Re: Coolant sensor reads low
nice one Cliff. it is digital. You have graduated from a fountain of knowledge to a mountain of knowledge! Can't put anything past you. Like in the first post, it is capable of the range on the gauge by applying heat to the sensor, key on, eng. off, and watching it climb. Otherwise, I'd not put it p...

Coolant sensor reads low
Has anyone put too much goo on a coolant temp sensor when installing it and got a low reading [like a 1/16" gauge needle rise] at normal operating temp? I have 5 sensors in my parts bin and have tried TWO of them already and in the car, they read low like this. 3.1 v6 is the engine, 1990, Manua...

That is a real good example of multiple things wrong tripping all over each other confusing us! What a day!

Re: dash help.
I had that hard plastic cover on mine for a while. I never could bring myself to use it because my base vinyl was that bad. in fact, the dash restore shops need that base vinyl to even begin! i actually had to j-yard buy a dash and send that one in as my dash was only the plastic frame. that plastic...

Re: Sometimes high idle, goes away after restart
"The signal wire going to the ECM" <--good idea. usually found by wiggle checking. It seems like your car's problem here is too faint to respond to this as its one restart away from cure. As our cars age, any wire insullation exposure to the elements sets up corrosion and will start interm...

Re: dash help.
Instead of starting a new thread, WHAT OPTIONS DO WE HAVE AT REPAIR? I just acquired another beretta that needs some help. It is not the worst, and probably closer to the 'best' as far as our dashes go... the heat shrinking, NO WARPING, and some 4" cracks up to 1cm wide. I'm not sending it off....

Re: dash help.
Nice pictures! I absolutely love that! I sent mine out to justdashes.com. Yes, I'm the one who spent $1500 on the restore. I love it and I should for all that money. I didn't know where else to turn. I suggest the above one first. A couple things differ though: turn around time was a month. I didn't...

Re: Sometimes high idle, goes away after restart
Oh, we are starting to have fun now! I like the above suggestion on cracking of that plastic pcv line. It doesn't explain why a computer [key off] reset fixes the problem. this smells like electrical. If this was a nissan, Id say unplug the one or two temp sensors. Forgive my ignorance on this, I do...

Thermostat modification drill hole size
Regarding taking a drillbit and allowing the thermostat to bleed coolant to effectively reduce its cycles, I have found that a 1/16" a good size. How do I know? Ive been doing this for years and last summer, my 89gt got gummed up in deteriorating block seal [been running 50k miles with a 2"...

Cack tires
When I got a gtz from Cack years ago, I totally forgot about tires and wheels - so it shows up at my house on 4 donuts! I have been using the donuts. its quite embarrassing, and I got over it. I've used up two of them. It seems that they will roll for 7k miles NO PROBLEM. I lost one due to a nail/sc...

Re: Sometimes high idle, goes away after restart
do the above things too. Good ideas. That ecm corrosion will sneek up on yah. If so, drain all power, batt off and key on to be sure. Then take toothbrush/metalbrush and scrub corrosion out of the connector with a parts cleaner. Elec contact is best, cyclo makes it. Do same to computer pins. Do not ...

Re: Neighbor in need
I never help anyone who doesnt ask for it. I like and use quai chain cains style from kung fu the legend continues "come to china town. Ask for cain. I will help you.". This does a couple things. Illimination of those who dont care because your passing the ball to them, and if they dont co...
