12" custom sub boxes for trunk FREE [come to bfest!]
On an overly ambitious day, I built two custom sub boxes for 12" subs. One goes in the rear left corner of the car, and one in the right rear corner. there is a mutual cutout for the trunk latch. One box is 13 sides. The other box is 19 sides. Yes, I put some math into this. I think there is on...

Re: digital dash woes.
car-part.com and just start calling EVERYONE! I know it'll be difficult; I'd pull the connector from behind the dash mount [i think we can do this w/out getting behind it] and wiggle that seat just to be sure the cluster is the problem, and not the connector. What lights up the digital dash? curious...

Re: Fuel gauge bouncing
I just put in a fuel pump today and hope it doesn't go. perusing rockauto, one pump manuf. recommeded replacing the wires. I didn't. I don't use alcohol, and while I'd be able to tell my old ones from new ones, the insullation had no cracks, and connections were like new. You must have bumped someth...

Re: Driver/passenger window replacement
Hi Paul! I asked this question years ago and to prevent me from passing a run-around answer to you, [it depends] is where it comes from. I'd call a good 3 automotive glass shops, biggest in the yellow pages and ask the same thing. Ask where their glass comes from. I was told that all glass has the d...

Re: Loss fuel pressure prior to start
OKAY! to the nearest pound, 44psi with fuel pres. reg. hose removed at idle. 38psi when idle in normal state. Now I still have a hella leakdown when that pump cuts off. I have not checked it to my 89GT, to see the leakdown it has. haha, probably will do it after I post here and so only I know the re...

Re: Cold start engine dies in reverse
My 89GT does this! on a slight incline backing up [manual trans] either in rev or neutral, at idle, even a +300rpm above whatever idle it sets that morning, will stutter to where I either have to stop completely, or rev it like I'm driving one of those furious hondas. Steering wheel does not matter ...

Re: Loss fuel pressure prior to start
part #s are the same. 350kpa [why they don't give this in psi is beyond me] is the fuel pump spec, for a '89 gt 2.8 and for mine. I actually took that pump, because I started out with the ~10psi 2.0 I4 engine. no one cares about that. sorry for wasting bandwidth! I'll post next week with the update ...

Re: Loss fuel pressure prior to start
My haste had induced me to forget to check fuel pressure when returning from a drive...and having 1hour to work on it before it gets dark. I just pulled the tank out, expecting to find the pressure accumulator [inside the tank, in line with the output line 1/2" above the fuel pump motor] with d...

Re: Exterior Door Window Trim moulding
The best idea I've come up with is putting a new strip [from jcwhitney? from a new car in a j-yard?] of rubber ONTO our existing part. this means, remove old rubber, and put on new rubber in its place. When I came up with this idea, I noticed mine has that lower rubber piece of 1/4" or so on th...

Re: Loss fuel pressure prior to start
I'll post an update when I go back into it. I think the pressure does increase when the regulator is unplugged. not sure, so I'll try that and then take the tank out, and look for a directional arrow on the pressure accumulator. Thank you for spending time on this! I now have some direction when tak...

my Local garage for broken cars in TN 2014
I'll remind everyone of this at the initial welcome meeting, that if someone's car dies, or needs work requiring several days, my garage is not that far from pigeon forge. We have everything from torches and welders to acid etch primer to wax, wires, electrical connectors, etc. I can go get tools we...

Re: Trivia question!
I ran into this once just on curiosity. I would GUESS, [sorry no good info from me] that the '88-'90 interior change to the newer style caused that insert to also change. I'd say it must be had from the later model years. too bad that the pull it yards are not holding our cars as they age. Its time ...

Re: Air bag Light
I have done this: -found that law only requires ALL vehicles a 10yr guarantee on SRS operation. After that, manufacturer is off the hook, accident failure or otherwise. -computers [airbag main] blows when deploying airbag. so if there is history, plan on this being shot. -a broken clock spring, spir...

Re: auto trans fix or swap ?
I have no idea on the manual shift bit. I constantly beat the drum that if you don't know the last time that filter has been changed, then change it before continuing. maybe the 94 computers ses light on will affect shifting - my 3800 computer does if it hits the right adjacent circuit and POOF! ......
