Re: whats the point of a rear swaybar?
tyler - the rear axle of these cars is quite flexible, more than you might think. Try this. Put a floor jack under either the left or rear axle near where the lower shock mounts. Start jacking it up. See how far one side will raise (twist) before the opposite wheel begins to lift. Heck, even with th...

Same topic, different technology. Yes, electric turbo's are coming. Check out the link below & page 26 of the Jan'12 Car & Driver. An electric turbo will be on the next gen BMW M3.

Soft brush with a shop vac running at the same time so it sucks up what you loosen.

Re: heater blowing weak.
I would put serious money on the intake side of the a/c evap core being plugged. The only way to find out & correct it is to remove the blower motor/fan housing & intake on the engine side. You will find a pic of mine (a 1992) on my photobucket site. Mine was totally plugged with accumulated...

Offtopic, are you scrapping the car or was that just your feeling when you painted it? Lol[/quote]
I knew from day 1 that the (black) yellow GTZ was going to have a limited lifespan. By late-spring or summer I will retire it and get something new.

Re: so i wanna paint my car.
I've used DuPont, PPG & most recently the product line from Summit. Candidly it depends on your skill level, equipment (including space/environment where you plan to paint) and budget. In my opinion & experience PPG is one of the best paints you can buy. However, compared to the Summit line ...

Cautionary Tale - Quad Fuel Supply Line
Here’s a cautionary tale for all of you Quad owners. I was lucky, make certain you are as well. I changed the oil in the GTZ last weekend. I was about to close the hood when something on the fuel feed supply line caught my attention. Seems that in the rubber section of the supply line, right above...

Re: Half Shaft Flange
The smaller round piece that has a dish in it is called a 'slinger' in the parts catelog. I believe it is simply a shield that keeps debris from getting into the bearing. However, the large metal flange that has 3 bolts going thru it is the retainer fo the half shat bearing. Do not remove that part....

Re: plastic rivets/retainers for inner fender shroud?
It is possible, perhaps probable, that the mix of rivets and push fasteners were changed in the later years. The parts I listed are straight from the 1987 - 1992 GM parts catelog.

Re: plastic rivets/retainers for inner fender shroud?
The proper retainers are a mix of push in trees & plastic pop rivets. The rivets go along the top outer edge of the wheel wheel well liner where the fender is sloted to allow for build variation.
The OE rivet #12337915. They are $0.52 at GM Parts Giant.

Re: Muffler Too Loud
Installed a simple Thrush flow thru glass pack in place of the cat. Raspies are gone and the car is much quieter. Not quite as quiet as OE, but close. It has a bit of a throaty sound at 3/4+ throttle, not bad for a Quad. Total bill $40. Total time 1Hr. Not bad at all. http://i912.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: Muffler Too Loud
Guys - thanks for the info. Will head down the path of a flow thru glass pack in the place of the cat. As to why the cat was removed? Simple, it was shot. Not spending the extra coin for a new cat on a car that is headed to the crusher in the next 6 - 9 months. The flow thru pipe was $7. As for the ...

Muffler Too Loud
OK, got a question. I have a Walker 'sound FX' muffler on the Q4 GTZ. Nothing special, just ordered right off the RA web site. It was fine until I pulled the cat and replaced it with a flow through pipe. Now the exhaust is too loud & too raspy. I wake the neighbors up in the morning leaving for ...

Re: 85-88 NOS Grand Am Parts
I thought I had a deal to sell the GA steering wheel (more pics on my photobucket site), but the interested party has stopped responding to emails. We had struck a deal for $150, so I will offer it for the same price to anyone else. Shoot me a msg if you're interested. http://i912.photobucket.com/al...
