Re: 3400 and 5 speed swap
There is a write up on how to do the swap if you're interested in it. Heavywoody wrote it up. No tuning will be required but I suggest looking at the thread for the obd2 swap and possibly doing both at the same time but it isn't required. I only recommend the obd2 swap so you can better utilize the ...

Re: putting an engine in a 2000 pontiac grand am gt 3400 aut
I sent you a PM with the instructions to replace the engine. Just leave the transmission in there but support it with a jack (but with a block of wood of course). Remove the torque converter bolts through the starter hole and rotate the engine. When you're installing the new engine, you don't have t...

Re: Anyone with online school experience?
Look into your local Universities if you want to save money. Most of them offer online classes. I take both online and face to face classes. Honestly, online sucks. They generally require more work with less help from the instructor. That's about all I can say since every teacher and school is diffe...

Re: Exhauts manifold modifications, parts/stuff?
Being a straight T4 I couldn't even guess how much lag would be there.. Hopefully it won’t be too late in the power band. Though with it being later for you, it is likely beneficial due to the traction issues you already face. I cannot get mine to hook up either, though I had that issue before the t...

Re: Exhauts manifold modifications, parts/stuff?
Well, since it is still a stock 3400 bottom end (bore/stroke) with 3500 heads it has the displacement of a 3400. The reason to put 3500 heads on a 3400 is because #1 stock 3500 heads flow better than most ported 3400 heads and #2 it drops the compression down to about 9.3:1. My 3500 heads are ported...

Re: Exhauts manifold modifications, parts/stuff?
His name on here is mcgavinz26. If you search his name you might find some of his photos and such. He parted everything out a couple years ago. He wanted something that people would respect more. I think his plans were to go to a Fiero platform, but he was using a 3x00. For his to fit, he cut a hole...

Re: Exhauts manifold modifications, parts/stuff?
You can even mount it back at the muffler if you want. You will still deal with the oil feed and return issues though. You will get a lot more turbo lag, though, it may be a bit benefitial. Due to the lag, you won't have to worry about traction issues as much. If you do decide to relocate the batter...

Re: Exhauts manifold modifications, parts/stuff?
Yes, a 3X00 is not a direct drop in. Though well worth it in the long run. Especially if there are plans to build another engine in the future. If there are plans to build one in the future, might as well start with a better engine now. There are some mount(s?) available for a 3400 swap for j body v...

Re: Tiffwad's Turbo - 2013 Chevy Cruze Eco
TPMS is spendy.. Luckily you have the updated style with the interchangeable rubber stem. The hard stem ones were a lot easier to break (but these updated ones still do if you're not careful..) The diesel Cruze should be pretty tits. I'd be a bit hesitant to buy the first year model with them thoug...

Re: Tiffwad's Turbo - 2013 Chevy Cruze Eco
If you want to purchase the reset tool (if you don't have one) https://gmspecialservicetools.spx.com/ToolDetails.aspx?id=5677 $69 isn't terrible. Not great though. I was able to use the previous TPMS tool on non-GM vehicles once I set the vehicle in relearn mode. Not sure if this one will (but I ima...

Re: Tiffwad's Turbo - 2013 Chevy Cruze Eco
People probably said the same thing when we went to fuel injection and the use of ECMs... By reading those install threads it doesn't sound like you need a re-flash... Though: "The front fog lamp switch signal circuit is grounded momentarily by pressing the front fog lamp switch. The body contr...
