The 3400 swap is much easier and, simply, will fit in the engine bay of the Beretta. I remember seeing a pic of someone putting the 3.4 DOHC in the engine bay of the Beretta and there was little to no room for anything else.

A 3400 top end will physically bolt to the 3.1 but other custom parts, such as push rods, will need to be bought to make it work.

FPR. I had some of the same issues you're having and the fuel pressure regulator was the culprit.
Have you done anything with the o2 sensor???

Going back to the third brake light, i have found that the early 90's Grand Prix and the same generation Lumina have the top-of-the-window mounted third brake light and the slope of the fits the Beretta perfectly.

When my one bad injector shorted out my entire injector circuit, i was able to swap the one bad one with one that tested good albeit used and VOILA the car started again. I hate to say the weba, but maybe putting back the old injectors might help??? At the very least, you can inspect the wiring for ...
