time to let it go
1993 Black Beretta GTZ, HO Quad 4 (one of roughly 600 made for 1993)
297,xxx miles
its been a southern car, no rust to speak of under the car, paint is in reasonable shape for its age but does have its problem areas, body is still in good shape minus a dent in the hood, the infamous gunshot & a few door dings here & there
the rebuilt engine I bought from getosled (on bstuff) siezed on me, the oil pump went. I'm not trying to spend anymore money in this car.....I would like this rare car to go to a good home and not really looking into parting out..I will if nobodys interested in the whole car, I still have the original quad. I feel it would make a good project car for someone.
hit me on PM and ill give you more details.
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Jw ... directlink these pics are from 2004...most recent i can find online...the car is 150 miles away from me right now, I'll take updated pics when i get time

Without the GTZ, DJ Ern loses his true identity.....
Hasn't this car killer about every Accord in NC? Seems like every racing thread you used to post on Bstuff had an Accord kill in it somewhere lol.

hahaha yeah it did seem like that...but man I cannot keep pouring money into this car, just scraping up the money alone for the motor and having it put in was tough enough...then having it strand me late at night in the middle of nowhere in 40 degree weather 150 miles from home was the last strawReptile_ZX wrote:Without the GTZ, DJ Ern loses his true identity.....

Man, I can get low mileage quads all day for 300 bucks. And its not hard to find someone with a shop crane to borrow to throw it in. And if you don't know how to swap an engine, its not hard to learn. That sucks. Your oil pump went and seized the engine? How did you not know it was failing?
I have this stupid habit of checking the oil pump gyrotor every 25k, there is a reason GM made that gasket reusable.

How long have you had the GTZ? I wish I would have moved to NC instead of Cali, I would buy it from you even though I'm not looking for another car right now lol.93GTZguy wrote:tvc3-gtz wrote:how much? for the gtz?

Re: time to let it go
after the original quad went bad for the same reason, I caught it in time but the motor smoked badly..down on power & didnt feel it was worth repairing the oil pump so I hunted for a replacement motor....I could only find 2 quad fours within 2-300 miles of NC.....one was a JY quad and the other was a "rebuild"...i went with the rebuilt engine, supposed to have 5k on it,..bought it..had installed...I changed the oil over to synthetic on it..the rebuilder neglected to tell me that he didnt do anything to the top end, the lifters rattled around 3000 rpm, the rebuilt engine had a oil leak but i could not trace it...lost a quart over 5k miles...changed the oil and about 6-700 miles I noticed "sludge" around the crankshaft & alternator... which when the engine siezed oil was covering the belts and etc but the engine was still full of oil... I only put 6000 miles on the motor...Chad91GTZ wrote:Man, I can get low mileage quads all day for 300 bucks. And its not hard to find someone with a shop crane to borrow to throw it in.
