Aftermarket Steering Wheel

Hello folks... I have a 1996 Beretta coupe (3.1L/auto) and desperately want to can the airbag. I recently purchased a Grant GT wheel at a lawnsale still in the box. The directions indicate that the wheel is universal, but I will need the mounting kit to install it. Now, I went to purchase the mounting kit and it does list Beretta up until like 1992... did I waste $10? What is so different about this column from the older car (other than the airbag obviously)? From what I can tell after looking at a 1991 steering column in a salvage yard, the only difference I could find is the airbag.

I tried doing a search. Sorry if this is a dead horse or there is an easy answer. I am off on vacation this week and wanted to install the steering wheel.

91+ had airbags, and the steering wheels are all the same 91+, so I don't see that being a problem if you bought a mounting kit that's listed for a 92.

I'm using that mounting kit on my 96, just be aware that if you over tighten the nut it will make the movement of the wheel hard not sure why but possibly because the mounting part is a bit thicker than the steering wheel itself. Also you need to remove the wire for the airbag going to the wheel since its that rotational assy. I did that on mine.

how did you remove the wire? snip it, or actually pull it all the way back down the column?
and from what I was told, the steering columns are all the same from about 1990 to 1996, the only difference being the addition of the airbag.

This car I just cut the wire, but I did pull one fully up in my other car so I have a complete spare airbag wiring setup if ever needed.
