I had to put a huge tunnel in my Camaro for the 6spd and it was fine. A Beretta will be a little tighter width-wise though, that is true. Most new car RWDs have a huge tunnel too though...so I don't think it will work out bad.

Remember to add in some sort of water drain-ports... Another idea might be to coat the inside of the tubes with hot boiled linseed oil -it might sound stupid, but that is the approved anti-corrosion method used in general aviation for steel-tube structures. One of the last things you would want is for this framework to rot from the inside out...

If they are welded shut then the odds of anything starting to eat it from the inside out is very slim... You would have to dunk coat it and have holes in the rails, OR you should have primer/sealed it before welding. They actually sell a sealer that can be welded through for rocker repair and such.

...Also used on the Muncie/Getrag 284 found next to the 3.4 TDC quad-cam engine in a few W-bodies. Getting very hard to find parts for that thing -glad mine was already rebuilt, getting worried about future clutch replacements though...
That T56 is awesome,
jjanke. Double-overdrive sixth... Very jealous here, as I have three Camaros that would benefit from those transmissions and the extra gear, if I only had unlimited funds for upgrades.
I know how winter can slow progress down, but your work is still really impressive. You got a lot done in not a lot of time last year. When do you plan on moving on to the Beretta-side of the project? What other goals do you have on the Camaro-side before you are ready to start in on the other half?

basically trying to get the "camaro" chassis back into a roller....... there really isn't much left to do on the beretta body but finishing cutting the floor pan and trunk floor out which will go pretty quick........... once the rear sub is welded to the camaro body frame rails the beretta body can be dropped on and welded back together ......then it will start to look more like a beretta project....... then its on to fuel systems, brake systems, wiring systems, computer tuning, some kind of wide body fender flares, and most likely cage.......... still a lot to do and im sure im overlooking many things ......i try not to think about it all........ one step at a time
