 You can get away with that, because you don't come across as a complete misanthropic @$$-O (which I am.. I mean do) most of the time! I still want your LSD (actually, I need five of them for the 282s, one for an Isuzu five-speed (Z-24 Turbo), one for a Muncie/Getrag 284 (yeah, that will ever happen), and one for my F40, maybe two just in case I decide to do another swap. My old Plymouth already has the Sure Grip "Posi", and all three of the Camaros are good to go -I even have a spare nine-bolt B-W Posi axle- but I also need a LSD diff for my 300ZX Turbo to-be-a 450ZX twin-turbo project. The SST can wait, and the rest of the vehicles in the family can do without I suppose, but these others are all on the essentials list! :P )

Talk to Jeff from EP, he'll build you an LSD...

And Woody can say that because he's driven in my car and knows it's far from a regular shifting 4t60e. I also chose the auto due to application more so than preference (my DD is a 5-speed)... I'd love a 5-speed Beretta but the usability of that with direct port nitrous at the track is a bit low.

Kyle's will also shift a bit firmer on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts than normal... I'm not going to just leave that the way it is ;)

True, and Jon I think you forget just how bad a stock 4T60E is. haha

As far as drag racing, I've been getting better numbers out of my 5spd than I did with my slushbox...but it is tough to get a clean launch NA. I can only imagine with N02.

NA I would agree, you can probably put down way better numbers because the engines are a bit under powered for the gearing... but when your pushing out over 300 CHP then it's a bit difficult to even use 1st on the manual... LOL

Ok Kyle, here are some updates.

Went through the whole valve body, every valve removed and all the bores cleaned out with some brushes... Was this trans submerged in water at any point? The insides had a lot of mucky oil and I had to scrub quite a few of the bores.

Hope you don't mind my iconic Gray paint... LOL

Quality clutches.

Going together

Valve body and input and 2nd clutch together.

2nd clutch and 4th carrier done.

Sprockets and chain in.

1:1 ratio gears! And that new chain is a night and day difference from the old one!

I may have to pick your brain too - i'm tackling the rebuild of an 08 4t65e shortly that has lost all forward gears but still has reverse.

Yup, you can tell by the color now that it's an Otto by Jon.

That's right!

Not many pics,
Did all the valve body and channel plate mods for the trans go shift correction kit and got the channel plate and valve body in place.

It was not submerged in water... Completely. lol Before I took it to you I scrubbed the outside for a few hours with degreaser. Then rinsed it off with water. Other than that it sat on the parts car in my driveway for a year and then in a wheelbarrow in my garage for a year.

Sorry, I hope it wasn't too much of a pain

It could have been from anything.. It wasn't too bad overall though.

Hopefully finishing it up tonight... Just need to put the accumulator pistons in, differential, pump, torque everything and put the side cover on.

Do you have a torque wrench?

Looking great, Jon! Thanks for sharing the build with us. Interesting and informative. Keep it up!

I always forget to but I should take pics of the mods that are done to the valve body... But then again they are only the ones that the trans go kit suggests so it's nothing overly special. I don't screw with that maze on my own LOL

I've got an inch lb torque wrench now! So once again I can be more precise than all my other trans builds... but I guess that would only affect me; yet I've never had a problem relating to something not being torqued enough or too much so Eh who cares. :)

Back in the hangar we used to pick on the guys who didn't 'torque-to-spec' with a wrench -we shrugged sarcastically and said they had a 'calibrated elbow'. Some things require that precision, some things don't. If you know the difference, that is just as good as torquing EVERYTHING, and a whole lot faster! The only problem is the newbie who 'thinks' they know the difference!

I always torqued stuff before not to get any confusion, I just had a ftlb wrench that had a lesser low end range, so if you've ever used a 125ft/lb wrench to torque something to 20ftlbs you probably know what I mean, the click isn't so prominent so it's harder to ensure its RIGHT at 20ft/lbs.

And when in doubt I just make the click click sound and say it's good... LMAO!
