I did just that today. Will see what the broker can dig up..

Assuming you have an appraisal, which they are going to demand, what did they value your car at?

i have classic car insurance, pros and cons, (here in canada)
car must b 20+ years old
nobody under 25 can drive it
value must be of 4k or higher
policy is for 1 year, costs me $250.00, no credit for storing it. can use 12 months a year.(not!)
not allowed to use it as a DD
not allowed to go do errands with it.
can bring to car meets, car shows, garage/repair shops, or to somewhere that somebody would b interested in buying it.
yes to all roads(highways etc)
i pay for the appraisals, and i have to re do them every 4 years

if i antique plate(TAG) it, then not allowed on highways.

That is basically what I have on my GTZ.

Nice part is I get to write the appraisal, as I am not on Title, and I am a Licensed Appraiser.

They aren't all that happy about the California Registration and plates, but it is legal, the car is registered "by Title" by my Step Daughter in Santa Monica, California, and lives here in Ontario, Canada.

Same stupid law that allows all U-Haul trucks here in Canada to have Arizona or Nevada "Permanent Plates".

Get a good Broker. They will find you the coverage you require.

I don't have an appraisal. The broker I contacted reached out to JC Taylor and said they would write a policy for it - gave the broker all the pertinent info, sans appraisal, and am waiting on the quote which should be ready tomorrow or Wednesday. If he comes back and asks for an appraisal, I'll get one..I can't imagine it would be more than $4-5k though..

Just waiting on the broker now..we'll see what happens..
