With what that guy put into it, I'm almost positive all the known rust areas are either NOT rusty, or fixed properly... You dont strip a car and paint/clear your engine bay if your rockers are rusted straight through.... LOL

Yes, you would think so. Hopefully the car did not have issues under the rear springs or rockers to begin with.
Maybe I'll try and contact them and throw them an offer. 5spd I wouldn't have to worry about the trans holding up, and it would be nice to have a rust free shell that looks as good on the outside as my car does. The cowl hood I could see going well with some lope...

Get on it Isaac! I don't think that it will be around for too much longer.

Still trying to decide what route I'm going to go with. My car is ready for high power other than the trans and possibly the body ripping apart lol.
If I can find a local DD then maybe I'll just stick with my car and an auto. Then again it would be nice to have a solid car and a 5spd so no worries about trans holding power...
I'll see if I can't contact that place and see what kind of deal I could work out with them. My car would still work fine as a DD and looks good enough as one. I need to figure out what I'm going to do before long though so I can get the stuff going for spring.

Sounds good man. I can't remember how bad your car is. If I'm right the rust wasn't all that bad. You should be able to fix it.

Well, fist size holes about to come through on the rockers when you open the doors, underneath the cars rockers, etc it's crunches if you put a jack there and tapping it sounds like wood not metal... So that's fubar.
Rear spring mounts are scary. When I put on the Eibachs last fall I hit it all with some rustoleum but there is basically nothing at the top holding the springs but make the small frame rail, the supports are totally paper thin. I'm surprised the springs have not shot out the side or something.
Aside from that the car looks great. The paint that's not damaged (dings etc) that is factory looks great. People ask me if I've repainted the car and I tell them just the hood and fender/door from the deer, but the rest is factory and they can't believe how glossy it is. Interior is fine except for the seats. Dash is starting to bubble now, well it's got a big bubble where the whole thing is lifting where the flat spot is so you really can't tell unless you know it's supposed to lay flat... That and the metal defroster thing likes to pop out because of it when its hot/cold out... LOL
So yeah it's just done for without a TON of metal fab. It's either keep it off the salt and drive it like it is, or get something better and move to there and just keep driving it until it's junk like Jon is doing with his red car. It's sad as the car has a lot of history with me and everyone knows the car since I've had it since 1999.
I wouldn't mind a $2500 110,000 mile 3400 2003-2004 Impala from the Highway Patrol to use as a daily driver. That would be a cheap beater but look decent enough. Would be newer and I could pile friends in. But then again if I had a solid nice 2nd Beretta I'd keep rocking the Aqua car as it doesn't LOOK bad. I did keep the old struts/springs etc so if I drove it until it fell in half I could alt least swap those on and sell the Eibachs... LOL
I don't know what to do really.

Ouch, it's alot worse than I thought. If you could get the other one for a good price I'd almost say go for it. Well, it's just that it sounds like you have alot of love for you car. What ever happened with the hood?

I just hate that it's far away and I can't look at it in person and KNOW it's solid. Plus it's been since 06 when that car was done, who knows how much salt etc it's seen since then.
The parts store did pay for the hood to be replaced. Howlinwolf sold me a hood for 50 bucks. Turns out it would have been easier to fix the original one, as after we got it painted and put on, we found problems with the new hood. The edges by the hinges were folded down, we had to tweak that and the right side center fender area sits up higher than the fender. We tried tweaking that and put more dents in it. The body man said he had to fix a lot of dents in the hood too. You just don't know what you are getting into until you get paint on it with any part. A new hood would have had wavy-ness I bet too unless you could get a GM hood. The good thing is the paint matches... the old.
That reminds me I need the hood prop rod from Howlin still. I need the older style rod so it doesn't poke through the hood skin...

True, but I doubt they look underneath the car. You wouldn't know mine is rusted out unless you looked under it or tried to jack it up if it wasn't for the door jambs showing rust now.

thats how mines was. looked decent and had not rot or rust showing with the GFX and bumpers on, but once you took that stuff off you could see it. the day i got rid of i couldnt find a solid point to put the jack to get the thing off the jackstands.

Newbie here. I was traveling through that part of Illinois, and stopped and looked this car over. The car is very solid and sharp. It is missing all the plastic fillers in the door jambs, has great sounding exhaust with no converters, paint is outstanding with a slight cracking on one spot on the hood. AC worked, everything worked for that part. The wheels had some oxidation starting under the clear coating on them. The guy selling it was a straight shooter, and really didn't want to take any less. Don't blame him, you couldn't paint the car for what he is asking. The car drives great, and is very responsive. No evidence of any rust on the car, just a solid car.
I am from a county that requires emmission testing, and this car would not pass. The dealer said that was why he was selling it as a show car, though the county he is in does not test cars. Great car, but it wouldn't work for me.
