Forest, you still here? I wouldn't mind taking a look at this machine you have.

Also, Sir Cranky, but if we do it for you then we have to do it for everyone!

I think that the body kit, stripes spoiler and such was a dealer add-on. Maybe C&C had something to do with it. But over the years of being on the Beretta forums, morely on bstuff, i have seen quite a few pictures of cars like this one. This is the first i have seen the shark stuff. That part i would think is deffinitely dealer added. But who knows, there is nobody that knows everything. i do know that there was a guy on bstuff within the last few months that had a white GT with the same kit. And from the looks of that, after you take off the front end bra, its deffinitely not the GTU front. has the foglights and all.

and plus, thats DEFFINITELY a early 88, must have been one of the first ones out so thats why it has the shark stuff on it for promotion. Seeing as it has the silver trim around the windows and the "BERETTA GT" emblem is on the quarter panel instead of the door. I would keep that and get it redone as much as possible if i had it.

And i would about guarantee that the build date on the drivers side door is late 87, i think it would be early in the model year instead of later by looking at it. I think thats a really good example of style from the 80's with the gold crosslace wheels and the rear window louvers. I doubt there is many if any left to show this style

The thing is, everything you mentioned if a dealer available add on part. I have two berettas with that SAME exact effects kit on it in the local junkyard. If it was done, it was done at the dealer not C&C. I'm taking a look at the car today, and will decode the vin and check it out.

There are no unique VINs for anything in '88 (not even for a GT). The RPO codes would show though, Z21 for a GT, BBA for a GTU. However this isn't to say that C&C didn't do work that was not subsidized by GM.

Ok, so I took a look at this car and grabbed some pictures. I will let you all dig at this a bit as it does seem strange.

The car looks to have been changed by C&C, but not what you think. It has a power moonroof installed. By C&C. in 1988.

The paperwork and warranty show that the car was made in June 1988. It had this option installed in July with 11 miles on the car, and was sold in Sept of 88 with a little over 400 miles. The shark and stripes are unknown, but I still think the dealer added the effects in an effort to make it seem more sporty.

So it's evident C&C did a power sunroof install on this car when it was new for some outfit called Autoport, whoever the hell they are.

The shark stuff is still a dealer thing IMHO. GM nor C&C wouldn't do that.

Good luck with that Lifetime Warranty, LOL!

If I remember right, C&C manufactured custom sunroofs (installed through dealers) way back when (like ASC), then were sold to Farmont-Skylite and now exist as Inalfa roof systems, I doubt they have any record of what happened back in '88

Anyone know what RPO code the sunroof uses?

No RPO, it was done after the fact by the dealer through a C&C authorized installer. Notice that label is different than a GTU C&C label. Possibly at the request of the original purchaser.

I doubt the original purchaser, since there is a 2 month gap and 380 miles on the car between installation and sale.
