Your shifter has D 2 and 1 on it? if so you do NOT have a 94.

Which in that case would mean yes you have a TCC connector and that's all that connector does, and with it unplugged it will run fine, and just not lock up the torque converter

He could have an early 94 J... I don't think the 3100's were hitting the dealerships till March of 94.

Bast. Does your vehicle have anywhere stated on its specs what engine and transmission it has? Does the engine say "3100 SFI" on the intake? If it does NOT, then what you unplugged fixed the problem, but you should replace the module that you unplugged so its fixed properly. If you DO have a 3100 engine with a 4T60E transmission, then you do not unhook the electric stuff from the transmission. This means you have an issue someplace else as 3X00 was explaining.

The intake says " 3.1 multi port FI", i don' know what tranny i have..

Then you DO have a 3t40 and you can unplug the TCC

It's located below the airbox going into the trans.

Square plug with 3 or 4 wires going into it.

Ok,i've already disconnected this connector,but didn't know what it was i wouldn't take the risk to drive...

That looks like the one. As stated, this is the quick way to correct the problem, but you will not have converter lockup. What that means is you will have a bit worse fuel mileage with that unplugged, and could also cause a bit more heat for the transmission fluid as the converter will be slipping more that normal. Won't hurt anything for awhile, but in the long run it can cause more wear on the transmission, especially the torque converter.

To properly fix the problem, the TCC module that the connector plugged into needs to be replaced.

I'll try to drive with this connector disconnected tomorrow.

Well mine was unplugged for about 5 years back in my 3.1 days and it had no ill effects on my car, including winning three National Sport Compact Bracket Championships and about $10K.

But depending on the mileage on that trans you should perhaps think about fixing it, especially if you do alot of highway driving.

The trans is about 72000miles and here in FRANCE there's not much people that can fix US cars,so i don't want to increas or create problems.If you say you drove 5 years without this connector plugged in,i trust you.

That makes sense now... over in the other half of the world, the year often goes by when it was first registered. Not by the "model year" like over here.

Well that's a quick way to f someone up good... Does your Build sticker say 94 on it? It's probably a 93 or 92 date.

And Eric... When in the hell does a TCC have anything to do with drag racing? IIRC you weren't daily driving that car for those 5 years you were racing it.
