Nope.

'94 calls for a 1947 ECM and a '93 calls for a 3278 ECM.

Different ECM's and different E-PROM's as well.

So just to clear it up, I can get a burned chip?

I was reading and understood that if the vehicle is 94 and manual its OBD1, 4T60E vehicles got OBD1.5. Any truth to this?

Once I get the car together and find time ill pop open the ecm and see what I find.

SummitBalt08 stated the Racin17 burned him a chip that did not work.

What *reading* were you doing? You should have been reading the replies in this thread that clearly state that your car, my car and SummitBalt08's car are all OBD1.5... So no, there is no truth to that.

Why are you going to open your ECM? It looks like any other quad ECM with a removable eprom.

And if I remember right, the Eprom is keyed differently so only 94's and 95's interchange, and 92's and 93's interchange, 89-91, etc....

The reading I did was not on this thead, lol you should of caught that. Some threads over at gagtforums stated that.

Some people on this thread stated that OBD1.5 had the eprom SOLDERED.

Ok, responses are mixed, some say yes and some say no.

Again, what is the easiest way to tune this car. I don't mind buying the needed equipment and would use it as a learning experiment.

I stated that OBD1.5 is the 94-95 V6 cars had the eprom soldered and used a larger completely different style ECM. You will see in the posts after DTMAce's that his post was partially incorrect info. You will also notice that the internet is FULL of incorrect info! lol Much of that incorrect info can be found on here and on the grand am forums! lol

The easiest way to tune this car? Umm, convert it to OBD1. :D :Yahoo!:

The internets info is false, I thought it was true lol, thanks for the info scd I appreciate it..

Ok scd what is needed to convert this car to obd1. I read the thread that isaac put about obd1.5 to obd1, does that apply to this quad4 car?

Hmmm, I could most likely tell you everything off the top of my head, but let me do a little research on that and I'll get back to you!

You guys are oh so funny, nitrofish has a chip from Racin17 in his OBD I Quad 4 and Dutin has a Ostrich in his 94 computer swapped base.

ALL 4T60-E cars are OBD 1.5 and the beretta QUADS are NOT. The 94 Quads and 2.2's use the same ECM but different calibrations obviously but the problem tuning them lies in the fact that they are 512K chips and not 256K. Most people don't know how...

If our cars are OBD1, they why can't you check the codes with a paper clip?

Well THANKS for that enlightening comment, but even YOU said that 94 Quad Z26's are OBD1.5! http://www.beretta.net/forum/viewtopic. ... 40&start=0 wicked-irocz also made no comment saying he had TUNED a 94 Quad Z...

I know GM doesn't use the term 1.5 at all, but 1.5 is referred to anything OBD1 with OBD2 features, so.........

It can't be scanned with a jumper like normal OBD1, and it doesn't have the same style eprom as OBD1, but wicked-irocz still says it's OBD1, when everyone else says it's not, even the scanner manufacturers say it's not OBD1.....

So whatever..... :O: %)

Just keep arguing then. I don't have time to constantly correct mis-info but it hurts our forum...

I had a whole thing typed up and lost it. Look back a few posts, if a prom is removable it is OBD I, if it's not, its OBD 1.5. OBD 1.5 is flashable, OBD I is burnable. For this reason, a quad or 2.2 is OBD I. A 93 prom/ECU will not work in a 94 unless you re-pin for the ECU! Nitrofish's car is a 94, you should remember that Chad. Racin17 is just learning about the 512K chips, they are new to him, Nitrofish and I have been pushing him to learn them.
