(Money pit Beretta @ Dec. 06 2008,19:44)QUOTEFor the Q4 and 3.1 people: I took a good look at your TB's and there is no need to change anything.
Um, WHY?

but also, why didnt you get 3400 TBs, they cost the same (which you did get ripped off I hope you know), and they are 4mm bigger, STOCK.

The JY I go to has only older cars, there are no 3400's. The Q4 and 3.1 TB's are straight wall and there is no way to make them flow better. Yea, big rip off! Guess I took one for the team. Is there a need for a plate to use the 3400 TB?

no.

The 3.1 and Quad do benefit from larger TBs just like the 3100 and 3400 do.

They sure could, but I was talking about reworking the stock TB's. I just want the most I can get out of the stock one. As I said, I would like to see if it can be done and to keep busy in the cold weather.

This took me about 8 hours of hand sanding. I had to use 320 grit and a brown 3M pad(I take back what I said on sandpaper). There is still a very small hump because there is no way to straight wall these things. It took so long because I stopped often to make sure things were going right. The outside edge is tapered off some if you look close(it's the same size all around). This is before any polish was used.

Well, I now have a 96 one done also. It has been too cold to put mine on for testing.
