The air cleaner lid was a chrome one my dad had kicking around in his garage. I hit it with the DA and sprayed it and added the bowtie from some vinyl I cut a year or two ago.

And I actually used the valve covers off the 1-ton since they were so oily they had no rust. I did spend the time to clean them up pretty good before I painted them though. haha

Haven't updated this in a while. Got slammed with OT at work, but it's slowly coming together.

Sad thing is - Jon can probably name all of those parts and where they go on a 4t60e verbatum!

And assemble it with his eyes closed. LOL

I used to be able to do that with the older VW Bug engines. Been a long ass time since I laid hands on one of those.

I had a MOMO shift knob I got from Boner for the Beretta...but it's in a box collecting dust. I'm thinking about buying a 1 2 3 4 5 R shift knob instead of the L 1 2 3 OD R. It looks a little weird.

That valve body pic looks cool, even though autos are the devil.

I just wish I had a better background when I took that photo, as well as the new anodized coated valves that I ended up using... but that was the first rebuild I ever did.

Progress is still crawling along with all the OT I've been working, but it's getting close. Had to modify the fuel lines and the throttle cable bracket again to work with the carb manifold, but now that's all taken care of. All the accessories and a new belt are on, sensors are plugged in, headers are installed, shifter and boot are done, NSS is wired, column and dash and good to go...just need to install the tcase, driveshaft, radiator and add fluids and I can light it.

Don't you hate when life gets in the way of projects?

Forgot I still need to swap the rear end too and bleed the brakes. Funny it goes from a cam & trans replacement to a full engine build, 5spd swap, 1-ton brake conversion with HD rear swap and a custom header-back exhaust job.

I'm not surprised, you don't know how to leave anything alone.
