nocutt, I hate you with the utmost respect and honor that one can give. Nice work chief, I can't wait to hear it run - through video or audio file anyways.
Also, let me know how the Eastwood coating holds up to the heat, I've got some headers that need purtying up, and I may cheap out on powder coating.

Ahh I see! I guess if you need to you can always enlarge those holes some more. Isn't that going to effect the benifit of the divorced scroll housing at lower RPM? Probably not much.

The Ol' timers are swearing by it...I hope it can hold up...I will not hold my breath on the turbine housing though, so I didn't even bother painting those...this thing should look good after baking...I have seen a baked set, they look good

Hey i just spent the last hour of my life reading 20 pages on this.
Project looks really good. I'm trying to get my crazy NA 3400 back on the road LOL.
Anyway i had a few questions/recommendations to make.
Firstly i noticed you ditched the custom turbo headers to make log style. Good/bad. Good because i know it came out easier for you. Bad because if you kept them i would've recommend getting them Jet-coated. Underhood temperatures drop like CRAZY. I got my front header back from them and it's amazing. (still building the rear one)
Jet-Hot.com is the website incase you don't know. Lifetime warrany on new items and 3 years on used.
The project looks sweet, keep it coming.
How are you stregnthing the frame. I couldn't see where your motor mounts are located... I know some 3800 swaps in 3rd generation cavalier's used the upper rad support (bad idea, even after re-inforcing it)
This is the kinda stuff that keeps me motivated! LOL.
I'm sorry i don't post much here, i'm more popular at V6z24.com as i know Berettaspeed and thought he was my only Competitor LOL.

That paint on your manifolds is going to cook. What did you use? Everything i've ever seen as "high heat paint" has cooked off, this is why i went to jet-hot. I won't know the difference until i finish my rear header and get it running again. (few issues' to work out)
What made you want to run OBD2 style PCM? just the trans?

I'm getting anxious for you as well. I've been following this since the beginning and it is an absolutely beautiful job. It's really cool that someone has taken the time and effort to do something like this with their Beretta. They're a dying breed anymore it seems. Keep it up and GET IT DONE!!

Sorry, perhaps you don't have a split or divorced housing on your turbine as I thought. If not ignore my comments.
On slow turning engines such as diesels they use split housings to help low RPM boost levels. Each pulse to the turbine has more energy that way.

Both front and rear banks are completely 'divorced' till they get to the turbine wheel
...the idea is based on the way the the 3800 pulses...6-5-4-3-2-1 and the stock cam profile...each bank alternate, so rather than collecting a big pulse (like a header system) why not use their inherent 'eveness' to help throttle response...Unfortunately, many settle for either lag or an 'anemic compressor unit'. I am using a relatively mid-top range exhaust A/R coupled with the big compressor wheel...I am really counting on creating a much more broader tq curve...(I hope)...
We are still deciding where the wastegate should go...my own oversight...it cannot sit in the "Y" due to space and the fact that each bank is separate...not that I think it will have an issue...I just don't want to redo this ...ish...it is getting claustrophobic by the second
no, you're right rex, its a divorced housing. I know what you're getting at rex being that the two sides now have a cross over, so i see what you're getting at. How much energy will be transfered over that crossover piece though is anyones guess.

I move some of  your thoughts around to convey my own ideas easier...hope you don't mind...
The headers weren't built based on primary ease, I researched this for a while based on a previous 3800 turbo engine, logistics of how the engine makes power, camshaft design blah, blah!! (you get the idea ). Obviously I cannot speak from application, but I have seen Topend engineers question the status quo we are used to seeing in the magazines and what not...I honestly believe for a street car that is especially not seeing high RPMs a log style (unrestricted of course) is simply the way to go when turbocharging said engine. I think for the most part 4 cyl and 8cyl will benefit from a header because of the general unusual firing their exhaust tend to have...do you agree? The only disadvantage a log style will have...at least in my eyes is heat, this is of course ASSuming they are built right...they will hold more heat. Which is exactly why I am going thru the rigors of sheilding, paint etc, etc. Turbo heat WILL potential eat thru ANY paint on the market today (spoken from experience)...it is a matter of when. This isn't the usual spray can ...ish though...I think I will wager my lunch money on that...

Rebel is right...it is completely divorced as in hardware..., of course what the hot gases would like to do is a different issue all together...
anyhowz separate manis all the way to the turbine...which is also split (divorced)!! The only place they are 'caught cheating' is at this crossover. However the only time there is any dynamic movement of gas should be at only idle...as soon as gas is given to the throttle any angle, pressure within the secondaries (Y) is still going to be higher than in the pipes holding the W/G and then downstream there is our restriction ( the turbo)...in other words, backflow in this W/G pipe is NOT probable...possible, just not probable ÂÂÂ
When the pipes where been made, I specified the two inlet holes to the W/G be small...I don't think it will be a problem. Do you guys think I should be concernED?
