High mileage Getrag trannies will take the abuse from most anything in our community.

His car is going to need some pretty involved body work in the near future, that's why he's undecided on what he wants to do.

The problem with my car is the spring perches and that whole rear area. I just don't have the experience to cut out a section of the floor/structure and swap it in. The plan was to take the rust down to bare metal and seal it up, but I just don't think there is much bare metal left back there.

I didn't look under your car Mark, but the story I heard about how your car flexed on the jack was pretty interesting.

It's a lot of work to weld a new ass on a car. Just getting it up there is one thing, but then there is suspension geometry blah blah I'm sure you've heard the rest. If the body flexed as bad as Ive been told, there isn't enough left to save.

Welding a 5 speed mount on a rust free automatic car however is easy sauce.

You want a rust story! LOL On Erin's 88 base that she had a while back, when I jacked up the front end to change the ball joints, the doors wouldn't open!!!

Well, my 95 Z26 has a j-body '90 getrag with that upper mount... I want that upper mount gone. Looked at the pic of the billet one, still is in the way of my y-pipe. Anyone have any suggestions? Tempted to just get a steel plate, drill the holes and put that in the place of the mount. Unless anyone else has some ideas... Barry?
