I only charge $60 an hour (lower rate , but I have steady business BECAUSE of that rate and a good reputation for my work and standing BEHIND my work, not to toot my own horn), and I would probably charge 2 hours for doing the pump on your particular model for the simple fact that the motor mount needs to be removed for access. I could probably pick the pump WITH reservoir up for around $40 at NAPA with my commercial discount (usually around 50%) with parts and labor on the PS Pump , best guess on parts, I'd charge around $150-$175 for the job.
On the rack, it would be 2 hours labor, MAYBE 3. I could likely get the rack for around $70 or so at NAPA with my discount. So, again guesstimating on parts, I'd say around $225 , maybe a tad more or less for the job.
Both totals are including parts and labor. But I just try to make a living , not rip people off. I like REPEAT customers. I'm not one to try and fleece someone once to completely screw myself out of any future business with that individual. I'd rather treat people fairly and honestly and earn REPEAT business.
Keep in mind, I'm quoting NAPA prices. You may find these parts cheaper on the Net. I don't know what your shop allows, but I'm one of the rare shops left that allows customers to bring their own parts if they wish. If the shop you're going to allows that, I'd recommend ordering your parts from your favorite site, avoiding the markup of usually 100% or better most corporate shops invoke.
I don't do markups overall. I round off to the nearest $5 mark and call it good and most of my customers appreciate it because they know they're saving money. Again, that "earn the repeat business" thing that I like.
So to sum it up , at my shop:
PS pump, including flush and fill, etc, etc: $150-$175
PS Rack including flush and fill, bleed, etc, etc: $220-$240
I am , of course, running on the assumption that this is a V-6, and not a Quad HO Z26 as your car is a '94.
