Our track guy is still playing hookie.... I've tried numerous times via phone and email. We are investigating other options at Muncie possibly...

in my opinion, i say no limit raceway/us 41 its a cheap but good track. cars hook very well there at least when i go. my buddy has a ls1 turbo mustang that runs 8.40's on a test and tune and doesnt spin. my suggestion is taking the 2hr drive roughly, and racing there. i can than get some people from around my area to go, they wont have berettas but still will be a fun time.

One of my biggest concerns with every year's drag racing event is that it is just going to be PACKED and we will all stand around for hours and only get in 3 to 5 runs. I know that Bandimere here in Colorado is like that no matter which day or what time you go. I feel lucky to have gotten in as many runs as I have in the prior 2 years BFests that I have attended.
I say take this into consideration when picking a track...

I didnt bother to read the entire thread so sorry if I repeat or miss something.
But I talked to the Owner of Muncie Dragway and she was going to see about opening up for just us that Friday night. She hasn't gotten back to me but I can give her a call again. I told here there would probably be 10-15 cars racing with approximately 40 specators...Let me know when the last time you talked to them was. I figured since maybe I'm living in Indiana I'd have some pull..LOL
I am not up to drive 2hrs one way for a track especially with gas being almost $4/gallon right now. There is tons of other stuff to do in the Area if we don't have a track day. I guess there is a 1/4 mile track in Gas City, IN as well as an Oval Dirt Track. I have yet to find the phone number for the 1/4 mile track.

Please keep us updated on this as much as possible. I will approve your posts as soon as I see them.
This has a big impact on me due to the fact that it will determin if I pack my DR's or not, and thats a lot of space saved. At least this year they have tire covers so its not a big deal if they are in the back seat.

I just found a couple other prospects I will be calling, they are only 1/8th mile but one says they are open Friday and its not horribly far away.

If it's anything like the 8th mile in Charlotte... count me out... those who attended know why. LOL

No it needs to be a 1/4 track. Anything less is not fun. Lets see what the lady at Muncie has to say. I say we shoot for that track, and i dont think it was too far away was it?

Well I found 4 tracks that are close less than 2hrs away from the hotel.
All are 1/8 mile drag strips.
There aren't very many 1/4 miles in Indiana, Lucas is one and the other one is in Morroco, IN off US 41 which is going to be well over a 2+hr drive one way.
Most of the tracks are dirt oval.

I have NOT made ant trophies for any racing as of yet.
If there is none fine, but you folks need to let me know if there will be. I'm NOT racing of course but will still provide the trophies.
How about the Go carts? Is that still a GO. Barbie is quite excited about it and I would be happy to sponsor the awards for that.

Once again that is currently another death by procrastination deal... IIRC we were 10 shy of securing a group rate at the high speed kart place so I have no idea where that deal has gone.
Attendees get upset that we don't have things to do but they fail to realize we can not secure these types of events without ACTIVE PARTICIPATION and prior agreement to participate... Without that information we can not secure places due to our small size of a group.

Would you like me to give you the fastest n/a V6 plaque for 2009? lol...
That track isn't optimal for ANYONE... lol... there have been 2 stabbings, a shooting, and the owners have been arrested for growing weed (it was on the track property!)
It was the only option at the time... since you're on the committee you know all about viable options
