One week would put it still at a week before the 4th... it would be the 28th-1st I was thinking last week of June.

That could go either way, the 4th is a Wednesday this year. Is the 7th or the 1st considered the 4th of July weekend? Lol

That's all well and good, but then that throws me out. I have to be here for the 4th, as I participate in the parade, on call for fire duty, etc etc.

OK, since this was the main location of the bfest information:
I visited Traverse City today (finally) and checked out a few things. Stopped at the hotel we will be staying at. HOLY Hell. You guys are going to LOVE this place, if you never been to one.
Huge parking lot, I see no problems with our night habits!
More restaurants within stick throwing distance than you can imagine and then others within 5-10 minutes, including Hooters, Apple-bees, TGI, Cracker Barrel, Red Lobster, and tons and tons of other places. Some I can't even pronounce, let alone spell. In fact, the Hooters is right next to the mini golf/kart place we are going to be visiting. LOL There is also a winery or two, as I seem to recall there are people that like to visit and sip the local grapes when we go to these events. OH, and they are a place proud of their Cherry trees, you will see a LOT of those too.
Yeah, this is shaping up to being a really fun event. Though after visiting the hotel, hell you would never have to leave, they have everything you need right there! Its a vacation in itself.
Nice part, traffic wise and street wise, size of town overall is not bad. You can get from one side to the other in less than 20 minutes I think on average. But GOD there is a LOT in that space!
The downtown area is perfect for those that simply want to walk and wander the shops old school. Probably a couple of miles of shops. There are 2 Casino's (I think) for those that are wishing for a bit of Vegas still this year...
Oh, another cool thing. I must have found like 25 different brochures for canoe renting/trips, etc. So if anyone is into that, you have that option as well!
There will be some of this info in the registration, and much much more when you get your packet at the hotel.
Questions, ask!

Hey so I've been out of the loop for a while but what's going on with the dates for bfest? Is it the end of June as usual or beginning or July? Details would be nice because I need to let my work know way ahead of time because my friend that has been coming with me is now an assistant manager and i shift leader so to be taking out to managers for a weekend is kinda rough.

I will be going to TC this weekend, either Sat or Sun. Have several things to accomplish, hopefully will have help from Kyle as well.
Will update as needed on what I can, but essentially finalizing a few things, checking for some cool stuff, things that we have to have. Also going to scope the park we are using, figure out the stops for Friday, etc. Wonder if there is any interest in doing a driving contest? Like.... A scavenger hunt of sorts? Not for time, but who can make the most of it... hehe
Here was what I was thinking:
Friday morning, those that want to participate each get to draw from a hat. That would give you a small stuffed animal. You will need some sort of camera to participate. You then would be provided a map, with marked locations to visit and look for things provided by clues. Not everyone would have the same places to visit! lol Then simply have a picture taken with your stuffed animal next to it, or at least in the picture, then move on to the next item.
You would not be awarded by time, but by creativity, accuracy and completeness. (no need to speed you see) It would not be particularly difficult or would take more than a couple hours, but it could be fun!
This would be followed with a break for lunch, then a scenic trip to the Pierce Stocking Scenic. Dinner, then off to drag race or whatever you all want. Darkness hits around 10:30 up here. lol
As I said, its an idea. I originally was planning a sort of drive around tour, but this could make it more interesting. I want the public to see more of our group and who knows, generate some interest.
What do you all think?

Are there any campgrounds near the hotel along the beachline?

This looks to be 6 miles south of the hotel. nothing on the beach line other than the Traverse City State Park, which is right behind the airport.

TC State Park will be the closest. Interlochen State Park is also nice and about 10 miles out of town. This is another nearby option:

I did do a final check on pricing, here are the numbers if 6 of you want to share a room:
Approx 34 a night for each person, that includes everything and taxes. (yeah room would be $202 a night for 6 people - But better than the 360 it would have been)
For 5 to a room, its 35 a night each person.
For 4 to a room, its 37 a night each person. (this is also the lowest room rate, at 129.99 + 9.99 resort fee + tax)
All of the reserved rooms will sleep up to 6 people.

Its a 4 person room, it can have up to 6 people in it, and the room rate includes costs for 4, there is no lesser price for 2 people unless you can get a different room that only has one bed but I expect the price to be the same.
