Well THANKS for that enlightening comment, but even YOU said that 94 Quad Z26's are OBD1.5! http://www.beretta.net/forum/viewtopic. ... 40&start=0 wicked-irocz also made no comment saying he had TUNED a 94 Quad Z...
Exactly why I am glad someone stepped in who has actually TUNED IT... Jesus for once would you stop thinking I'm always trying to correct JUST you.

94-95 ECU's are a crapshoot... you will never figure out what GM was trying to do since they were testing so much crap.

Calm down Brett. I can mix names a time or two, it's not like I'm trying to. I also was only correcting everyone, not just you... I did address the difference, it's a 512K prom, not a 256K

All of us learn something new every day... Can't just accept that can you, no you'd rather point the finger at who is "wrong". I also stated nothing about programming the chip in that other thread, I just stated that 94+ wouldn't flash the SES light. You have one, go friken test it and prove me wrong.

The previous thread about code reading I could have been wrong, I though all 94+ Beretta's were OBDI.5 which meant the SES light trick wouldn't work. Hell even the code reader aka SES light tool he found doesn't even list the 94-95 Beretta's so obvioulsy I'm not the only one who thought that. It still may stand that the ole 93 and older SES light trick doesn't work on a 94+ because it IS a different ECU and doesn't have that code present on the newer 512k prom.

I know, sorry (to both of you), It's been a long day of working on Erins gross rusty greasy Wisconsin Beretta and I am kind of fed up with these cars at the moment...

The other difference is that there is no pin in the B terminal on the 94 OBD1 ALDL connector which is why you can't jump it to read the codes like the pre 94's... Stupid GM, BAH!

In case you didn't know, 1995 2.3 quad 4 cavaliers/sunfires are OBD1.5, but every other 95 2.3 GM is not... Strange!

You can't even go by wiki info since its so incomplete...
OBD-1.5

OBD 1.5 refers to a partial implementation of OBD-II which General Motors used on some vehicles in 1994 and 1995 (GM did not use the term OBD 1.5 in the documentation for these vehicles - they simply have an OBD and an OBD-II section in the service manual.)

For example, the 94-95 Corvettes have one post-catalyst oxygen sensor (although they have two catalytic converters), and have a subset of the OBD-II codes implemented. For a 1994 Corvette the implemented OBD-II codes are P0116-P0118, P0131-P0135, P0151-P0155, P0158, P0160-P0161, P0171-P0175, P0420, P1114-P1115, P1133, P1153 and P1158.[5]

This hybrid system was present on the GM H-body cars in 94-95, W-body cars (Buick Regal, 94 Buick LeSabre, Chevrolet Lumina ('95 only), Chevrolet Monte Carlo ('95 only), Pontiac Grand Prix, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme) in 94-95, L-body (Chevrolet Beretta/Corsica) in 94-95, Y-body (Chevrolet Corvette) in 94-95, on the F-body (Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird) in 95 and on the J-Body (Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire) and N-Body (Buick Skylark, Oldsmobile Achieva, Pontiac Grand Am) in 95 and also on '94-'95 Saab vehicles with the normally aspirated 2.3.

For ALDL connections, pin 9 is the data stream, pins 4 and 5 are ground and pin 16 is battery voltage.

An OBD 1.5 compatible scan tool is required to read codes generated by OBD 1.5.

Additional vehicle-specific diagnostic and control circuits are also available on this connector. For instance, on the Corvette there are interfaces for the Class 2 serial data stream from the PCM, the CCM diagnostic terminal, the radio data stream, the airbag system, the selective ride control system, the low tire pressure warning system and the passive keyless entry system.[6]

An OBD1.5 has also been used on Mitsubishi cars of '95 '97 vintage,[citation needed] some[which?] 1995 Volkswagen VR6's[citation needed] and in the Ford Scorpio since 95.[7]
