I think it's baked paint, not powdercoat. Because there is a layer of primer on underneath the black... Whatever it is, it's tough. I've gone through 3 bags of sand since my last wheel post and have two more waiting for some decent weather to finish up the last 2 wheels. It's a time consuming process, and I'm already short with all the house paperwork, etc.

After too damn many more hours... I got the wheels done finally. Clear coat is drying right now. I think they actually looked better without clear since the bare brushed aluminum is a satin finish that gives it a little contrast, but I still like it. Just need to mount tires and get them on the car.

Hope you put a good amount of hardener in the paint so it won't chip easily.

There is no hardener in the Summit system. It's 4:1 acrylic urethane & activator & there are 2 layers of clear. Thought about baking them in the paint oven at work though...

Same Fuzion tires Barry is running. Tiffany had a set on her Sube and ruined two with a screwed up alignment. So I'm putting her two old ones on the back and the new ones for the front should be here Tues. That gives the paint a little time to cure before the tires are mounted which is good.

Talked to a paint expert and he said it would be pointless to bake them since it is a catalyzed system. Tires will be here today, so I'm hoping to get them mounted tmo. I also got some upholstery work done on my other door panel, just need to reassemble.

Got my Fuzions via UPS today and gave Tiff's old tires a good look before mounting and found two nails and a staple! They held air on her car fine and didnt give her any issues...but screw that. I also thought hers had good tread, but after looking at the new ones I was wrong, they are not even half tread. So I got an RA# and will be sending them back tmo.

Since I have to buy four I'm buying the ones I want and all the guys on Nasty swear by: Sumitomo HTRZ IIs. Should be here Thursday.

Also finished up my door panel:

New shoes are on: Sumitomo HTR-Z II 225/45/17s. I need to source some new center caps because the old ones had flaking "chrome" plating. Whatever I end up with will get sprayed flat black with a gloss black center w/ red bowtie. I also have the black lug covers once I get everything buttoned down for good. Right now I just wanted to get it on the road because it's a beautiful day. It's supposed to be 80 today!

Spent a little time on it today. Swapped my flat black door handles for gloss. I think I'm gonna swap all the rest of the window trim too. Played around with center caps and might have changed my plan. Might go with a body-colored cap with a red bowtie instead of black. Still thinking about it. Installed my Redline hood struts, washed it and shot a few pics.
