Well, to update:

Car is sitting up in Sault Saint Marie Ontario, till I can organize a plan. Probably going to drain the coolant and pull the valve covers this weekend, with any luck. See what I can find. I'm really hoping that its one of 3 things:

1: Rocker arm loose/broken.

2: Collapsed lifter that let one (or more) of the push rods fall out of place.

3: Simply collapsed or broken lifters.

Beyond these, it could be a worse problem. The knocking/rattling sounds fairly rapid and top-end orientated, so I highly doubt its anything with the lower end. I'm betting that a couple of valves aren't opening, from the way it shakes in the bay. Will have a video up on YouTube later....

Yeah that's pretty bad... and without having the right oil pressure sending unit the reading it's giving could be false.. That's something to think about. It definitely sounds like lifters took a crap but I can see that causing the engine to shake so badly.

Yeah, I got people on FB telling me I spun a bearing. I don't think so, not with how its acting. So that would put it as lifters, pushrods, rockers or cam then. LOL

Ah well. I will find out soon enough. Just annoys me that it came on so sudden like it did. Absolutely no warning.

Spun bearing, no way... those will knock in odd patterns... this sound very rhythmic almost like a skipped tooth on the timing chain like you suggested earlier, but there isn't much space for the timing chain to skip a tooth...

Either way I don't think this will be an easy fix.

Of course it won't be easy. But hopefully no harder than changing upper and lower intake gaskets, since I have to pull the same stuff to get to the lifters.... LOL If its something stupid like push rods fallen out of place, its still going to be lifters.... I'm trying to hit 300k here! LMAO

I just hope things like the cam are good. Lifters I can deal with. As I said, till I can pull the covers and rotate the engine, I won't know.

Part of me is saying, just part it out and scrap it. lol

Trying not to listen to that part though. :P

Yes to spun rod bearing like I said on facebook and for good reason.

Here's some quick examples of the MANY I found.

Or even worse!

Oh really???!!! ^ Those videos sound pretty rhythmic to me just like DTMAces.^

Sounds like rod knock to me. Either way, if thats a valve, you won't have a pston for long. It WILL eplode. Hypereutectic pistons ftl

Even if the valve is technically held shut because the lifter isn't doing its job? You see what I'm thinking here...

I know its down 1 if not 2 cylinders. What ones, I don't know yet.... As I said, going to pull the valve covers and see what I have. If all the valves are going through the motions properly, then it has to be worse case scenario. Or somehow the chain has jumped on the cam sprocket, though I can't see how.

If you spin a bearing, yeah you will have knock, but technically the pistons and the engine should still be running properly, (for the most part). I have 1 or 2 dead cylinders that aren't doing their job, and the engine is shaking so violently, that it looks to me that some valves aren't opening allowing fuel to be burnt. Simple as that. You can smell fuel really strong when its doing this.

Its that, or it has actually thrown an entire piston rod loose. There is no damage to the engine housing though. Yet.

I think he means, that they will not be as rhythmic, depending on which stroke. Louder on compression/explosion strokes, quieter on exhaust and intake strokes, etc.... I can understand his point. No, this sounds very rattly to me, and very harsh but pretty even. Combined with my previously posted observations, I can't agree that this is a spun bearing.. Yet.

The only other thing I could come up with, is the camshaft has twisted itself, and either has sheared off, or is about to. Could even have half the cam in the wrong position, but still turning due to pressure exerted on an uneven break. It does have the hollow cam if I recall my car year parts correctly. I have an indication of oil pressure, but no measurement of how much pressure.

Edit:

After listening to the videos... Some of those sound way louder than mine or deeper. Not convinced yet, but will see.

If the valve was held shut, WHAT would be making the noise then?

Something is mechanically contacting another part.
