Re: Project: Slideways z26
Progress finally.
Belt system finally complete with al brackets and crap. Works awesome.

Poor man RWD crank sensor. Cut notches right into it so I didnt have to mess with cutting my TCE trigger wheel. I need to weld over the stock timing marks on it to eliminate the possibility of a false trigger between some of the real ones.

Cool beans.
Sooooo would it be okay if I block off that hole next to the thermostat that used to feed the heatercore? Its useless now.

Re: Project: Slideways z26
And yeah you can block that hole just add a bleeder in it to be able to fully purge the system thats what cahilj did when he did away with his heater core.
Or you can loop some hose from the water pump outlet boss to that?

Re: Project: Slideways z26
So I can plug this hole:

And this hole?

heres a port on the waterpump that I think went to the heatercore on the s10. I think I can plug that too?

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l216/ ... G_6763.jpg This one im not sure on but the other two you can either loop together with hose since the one off the water pump feed the heater core and the one on the lim took the water back in iirc. or weld what ever just make sure you have a way to bleed the system.
Re: Project: Slideways z26
I'm going to tap and plug them with pipe taps. The top one is 3/8 and the side one is 1/2. I just hope none of these are critical to the coolant flow of the engine.

Re: Project: Slideways z26
The pipe that goes over the intake may be critical to coolant flow since its a thermostat bypass... without that the coolant will not flow when the thermostat is closed to my knowledge...
You may not be able to re-use that port but you might have to figure out a way to allow coolant to flow when the t-stat is closed.... not sure how they did that with the 2.8's unless they just used the Heater core as that loop, where ours has two loops, one for the heater core and one for the TS bypass.

Re: Project: Slideways z26
I was going to mention that you could do that also, If i were you i woulf find a way to make it look cleaner then one hose in another maybe some an fittings if you have the cash or some hose barb turned down to both sizes.
Re: Project: Slideways z26
Yeah im going to use some fittings and make a much cleaner setup. I doubt dave will leave it that way he probably just used that for mock up.

If your in for some reading this is a rwd swap going into a vauxhall has some of the same front end comps we do, http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/projects ... 3B-43.html Im on page 30 something so you may want to go to the first one
Re: Project: Slideways z26
I asked him about it a couple month ago because I had to delete the heater lines for my turbo downpipe and cross-over. He stated: "On the Camaro I removed the metal tube that runs under the UIM and tapped that hole, i have a 3/8 NPT fitting in there with a 5/8 hose fitting on the end. It loops over to the water pump outlet. What would be the stock heater core outlet in the LIM has been plugged. You can see it all here: http://www.sdsgarage.com/Misc/Camaro/Misc/SDC12698.JPG That works, no burping issues at all."Barry wrote:Yeah im going to use some fittings and make a much cleaner setup. Dave tried to just plug the holes, but he never was able to burp the system. That's why he has the bypass hose he does now. I know others have drilled a small hole in their thermostats and installed bleeder screws into their t-stat housing without issues. (Many t-stats for the newer vehicles have small check-valves that work similar. I know the cobalt's use it, I was going to see if they're the same size as ours. But ran out of time so I just drilled mine 1/8")
