Yeah the paint looked darker on the sample chip they sent me. Oh well.
The Borla is going to getosled and his Quad4. So it's following you down to NC a few years late... I think I paid 100-150 from you and I just sold it for 100. Not too bad for about 5 years' rent. haha

May still be authorizing on youtube, so just be patient, I just uploaded them.
I can get a more recent vid... The car still lives now... It just has a flat left front tire.
I THINK those were both catted vids... not hollow. I know its quite raspy and obnoxious without a cat.

Sounds good, but doesn't sound any quieter than my Borla! haha
I wonder why my truck is so much quieter than that. It still has a stock cat and not a high flow, but that's about the only thing I can think of. It has more displacement and bigger pipe and it's not as loud. Kinda weird.

I sold my legendary Borla & tips to getsoled...so I chopped it off tonight and threw my free Flowmaster 40 on that I got from Tiff's brother. I think the fuggin thing is louder than the Borla! FAIL.
I'm glad I clamped it on as a test instead of welding it because I think I'm gonna replace it. I'll run it for a few days to see if it grows on me, but I'm probably just gonna find another muffler. If I do decide to keep it I'll be hacking off all the bends and welding my own mandrel bent pipe so I can get the fit right. The Flowmaster was back far enough that I didnt even put my new Borla tip on it because it would be about 4" past the bumper. haha

Put a pipe extension on that before you give up. No tail pipe and those SOB's echo like a mother under the car.
But yes if its just a standard 40 series they are the loudest muffler that Flowmaster has, other than probably their competition ones.
I know the older delta flow ones were quieter, but I'm not sure what they call those now. IIRC you can buy flowmaster mufflers right at Advance Auto lol
Just look at the inside of 40... NADA
You should snag a 50 series delta flow, that would probably sound decent on that car.
This is what I have on Pinky, and its loud... Edelbrock SDT (Sound deflection Technology) < MY ASS LOL
I'm actually thinking about putting a resonator right behind the cat to shut it up just a bit, but at the same time it just sounds too sweet... LOL

sound deflection my ASS. as you know i went with the same muffler because i wanted something that still sounded good and well i was sick of flowmaster.
its not as retarded loud as i thought it was going to be but its still loud.
on my car at least there is minimal difference between the muffler and cutout open.
i was thinking about throwing one of those SLP loudmouth mufflers on after the cat to quiet it down a little bit. otherwise it sounds awesome, get's a little loud driving around town.

If you guys think they are loud with an auto...I'm not even gonna think about it. My Borla was loud but sounded great with the auto, but the 5spd just makes it too much.
I've been browsing mufflers on Summit and checking out clips on youtube...thinking about a Dynomax Super Turbo so it's quiet all the time (I had one on my 90 GTZ so there's a little nostalgia behind it and I do have a cut out for making noise) or a Dynomax VT. The VT front half is basically a Super Turbo and the back half is a bullet with a valve kinda like the Z06 Vette mufflers. It's $100 but it has a $25 rebate so I think I'm gonna try it out.

this might give you an idea on idle sound. i dont have an in-car of this setup yet. the only difference between that video and now is i added tips since then. this video was right after i got the muffler on iirc.
http://s60.photobucket.com/albums/h5/95 ... =015-2.flv
Jon is the only other one i know that has the edelbrock muffler on a 60*v6. Jon's idle is lower than mine iirc, i got mine at 925, the closer i get to 900 the more of a PITA it gets and the more it stalls. anything in the 800 range forget about it. it will idle but once you try and put it in gear it stalls.
your borla was loud on your 95Z. compared to my flowmaster it was way louder and to think i was the one that got crap from the cops that year at NE.
i got the edelbrock muffler for like $65. it was on sale at the time. haha its still on sale for the same price i paid.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-55762/
between that and the 3 mandrel bends i bought with it, it ran around $120. i had a $20 off coupon they gave me with the previous order.
ill see if i can get an in-car video sometime soon providing its not going to rain. Rain plus the open ram air scoops in the hood is not good for the air filter.

SDT yes would be obnoxious on your car, but a 50series deltaflow would probably sound good. That's what I was trying to get across.
A VE tune has fixed 99.9% of my stalling... I can now rev it in park and it wont die if I just snap the throttle closed. I love it. Also with the high stall converter it doesn't stall when put into gear anymore, but that may also be due to the VE tune being right this time.

my stalling was only because i was trying to set the idle ridiculously low. the 925 is fine it idles nice and low and sounds good also. i never had the problem of it dying if i just revved it and let off quickly.
that borla muffler on his 95Z was on the obnoxious level for a daily driver.

Mine idles at 900, no hesitation, no stalling, no surging, no drama, and I LOVE this converter!
Good cold start. Good hot start. No surge on decel.
Really neat lope too. Still have the old Turbo II mufflers that have been on there for 5 years.

I think my idle is 875 to 900, I'd have to check, but this year its so much better than it ever was. I think I just had no time in my tune last year. I did skip over the VE tune and I think that was a very bad idea.
Edit* Just checked, Start-up idle cold is 1300 for approx 60* f coolant, when at operating temp its set to 890 trans not engaged and 838 trans engaged.
Hows that for a low idle and no stalling... I'm quite impressed it can go that low. The stock 700/650 I think is way out of the question though... lol

iirc my cold temps for idle are pretty much stock. operating temp its at the 925. to be honest it idles fine there so i never really felt the urge to go lower.
it already sounds like its barely running when for example i pull into the gas station. sure gets a lot of WTF looks from people, they prob think its on its last leg or something.
haha you remember when we first started my car with the stock bin because i forgot to flash the new one. yeah that low of an idle isnt happening, think i had that somewhere in the 500-600 range.
i hear you on the time thing. last year i had no time to do the tuning. this year is looking good so far.

Well I was going to buy the Dynomax VT today and it is back ordered until July...so there's no way I can do that before Carlisle. BALLS! So I guess I'll have to put my tip on the Blowmaster and see if that helps at all.
