The first start is always so awesome .  Even if all doesn't go as planned.  Looks like you did everything wonderfully.  Good job and good luck with the future work!

Some life to this topic, even i didn't post for couple weeks, it does not mean that there's nothing going on.

Since arrival of my discs seems to take some while, here's a pic of rebuild & repainted rear calipers.

Thanks for Kurt with all the help supplying these, were kinda hard-to-find parts.

Here's how the car is now, headlights you can see on the pic are all custom, here's a link to this 'side-project': click!

do you have the special tool over there to compress them?  I know its not too hard to make but just wondering.

No special tools here. I had to made some for the engine and transmission. I find it funny when all the GM service books say 'use tool #j593458' and i have nowhere to even buy one...

I still need couple special tools witch are kinda hard to make:
- Quad powersteering pulley puller
- Getrag transmission assembly platform

If you have any laying around, let me know

I carefully drove it today for couple laps around the block.

Has some electrical issues to be fixed. And seems like i need to re-learn driving too

Oh and it sits with some serious stance right now..

I only got one word to describe you, the work you've done and your car: P.I.M.P!! Very nice dude! Where did you get that belt drive conversion kit? Did you get a Timing Cover to cover it? I'd be worried about protection for it. If I didn't know better and you pulled up next to me, I'd swear you had it supercharged. That belt whines just like a supercharger pulley would!

if im not mistaken he lmade the conversion kit himself as his car has been a decent project for bout 2yrs now if my memory serves me right.

weba- those cars look great and when ur finished w/ this z u should do up the other one sittn next to the garage and then u can say u r the only one that has 3 running berettas in finland. and i like the way the GT looks w/ its stance, what kind of springs do u have in there again?

I got the conversion kit from Ron @ Quad4forums, it's the same kit that TRS sold when it was operational, and what i understand, is a copy of what was made in early 90's to race usage back then.

I'm the first one so far to run it on the street, i'm not going to build a cover for it a'l use shield under the enginebay to prevent any rocks or stuff flying in there, so it should be safe.

Oh and this is NOT a daily car, will be used mainly on weekends and racedays, so i't okay to use excotic parts on it.

MY91GT(Z), on W26, i have Sprints, with Koni's on front and old rusty Monroes at back, actually the rear of that car sits bit lower than front, i do have a list of things i'm going to do for the W26 after GTZ is street leagal. (5spd swap for exsample)

Maybe i should post some updates again, i'v been lazy with it, i know.

I been treasuring this for a while now:

This came off Rodville's Z26, it's mounted more far back on my car, oh and it also got some paint (thanks to my friend, i'm not that much to bodywork...) and some reinforcement under it.

It's there for 3 reasons;

1) to cool down the exhaust side of the engine, yes it's made functional.
It should suck some air in while driving and pass the air thru the header and under the car then.
When sitting still, it should also let some hot air to get out the engine bay.

2) To get some more exterior difference to my daily W26

3) And because getting US-body hood is kinda challenge for me, but i'l get one on future, before that the scoop has good home.

Now, can't wait to mount this thing to see what it looks like

AND WHO EVER CAN SET THE BOARD SETTINGS, PLEASE MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO EDIT OLD POSTS SO I CAN FIX THIS TOPIC!

New mufflers!

- Nobrand Nomodel cheapo 3" in 2x2.5" out free-flow muffler, has one chamber and packing inside.
Should flow great and still change the tone&sound level some.
This was the only(!) 3" muffler i could find witch had the exits side by side so i can mount the tips there and look good.

- Dynomax SuperTurbo, 2.5" in and out same side.
This is the muffler i'm using to bring the sound level down to quiet level, i think it has outstanding flow\muffling combo.

Inside of the cheapo Nobrand muffler. Has some header paint, i wanted to spray it completely but paint had gone bad so i need some more.

- QTP 3" elecric exhaust cut-out. After ordered i noticed they sell digital contol units to these.. i might have to get one hehe.

- 3" copper exhaust gaskets, i need these to all the flanges i have on my exhaust.

My version of the exhaust hanger, this one will HOLD on heavy torture and keeps the pipe where it's supposed to be, not hanging around, will bolt straight to body. Oh and still has some rubber to keep the noice out.

This is how the parts are going to be set under the trunk. Cutting and welding is needed like you can figure out

I'v done LOT of research on performance exhaust planning in past years, and i'm pretty optimistic that my creation will be one of the greatest sounding Quads out there ever, and flow really damn good on both 'quiet' and 'loud' modes.

The 'silent mode loop' witch i call the Dynomax muffled part, has actually piping closer to 2.25" and combined with the longer exhaust gas travel, it will bring back decent amount of low rpm torq what the 3" pipe tends to lose.

When 'loud mode' is used, witch means full throttle on my plan, this thing should make low tone rumble instead of raspy ear hurting noice what tends to happen on most single muffler Quad cars. 4 cyl engines can be a challenge to get sound great, even if the engine parts are high end.

Anyone who heard steph's GTZ on Bfest knows what i mean.

Look, new tools! It's 10+ year old TIG welder, got it for cheap, this will speed things up nicely,
no need to carry parts to be welded and back again.

And this proves it works!

And it even fits there.. barely, actually it did change shape a bit while welding, so it May need some adjusting to make it perfect again.

I had to use\create exhaust pipe mount that fits to small space, can be seen on that pic.
Anyway, it was sure a challenge to get the 3" pipe around the big plastic gas tank, but now it's proven that it can be done!

And room shall we create for the one-of-a-kind muffler setup

To be continued next week..

Well, that settles it then.  If you can do 3" exhaust all the way, I can too ;)  Looks awesome.  I really like the exhaust hangers.  Very nice.

that looks very nice weba.  I wish I had my own tig welder but I do have accesss to one.  Is that mild or stainless or both?  I just recently also found out that I could have gone 3" on my car but it does get very close so the only real way to do it is if you do it yourself.  Wait till you see my recent work.

Job well done Weba.
