As it sits right now, there wont be anything going on for thursday night and i will not spend my Bfest time bar hoping. I can do that crap here! I want to do somthing more involved....
I'm not big on either drag or go karts, but I will follow the group along if I have to. Sara had mentioned going to the zoo or something thursday since no one can figure out what to do.

I want to go kart Thursday night and drag race all day Friday as per the original Indianapolis Beretta Fest proposal that I voted for.

I honestly don't give a rats ass if its an eighth mile or quarter, or if we get 25 people to go kart.

I honestly have a PREFERRED outcome for both of those. But I wouldn't let something like that keep me from having fun..

crap, if any of my plans not going exactly to the T of the napkin they were thought out on kept me from having fun, I WOULD NEVER HAVE ANY FUN lol.

Since I have no ideas, and I know I will be arriving late anyway on Thursday, take a look through this site, see what hits some of you:

The only issue with just GOING go-karting is the price... its $20 bux for 8 min plus shoe and helmet rental... The group deal thing was going to be done to give us a bunch of time and make it more worth the money, but yes we can still go if there are less that 25 people but then we need to evaluate the costs for group or individual runs only.

I'm not in control of securing any track or any go-kart facility so I can only give out ideas. We should also attempt to keep that to the planning committee and not have a bunch of different people calling to make plans. No need to confuse them since they are already probably trying to figure out whats up with us liking beretta's.

The mailing list may be "archaic", but it is how we have always done things. If you're not on the list, you need to be. Furthermore, the list is simply an extension of the website / forums. All of this information has been on the forums for weeks now. The mailing list is not used to organize the event, the committee spends long hours setting all of this up for us. The mailing list is simply a secondary form of information delivery.

I understand your frustration with the fact that these events may not happen, but I consider the BFest group to be insanely lucky as for 14 years now the yearly meet has gone off without a hitch (to the best of my knowledge). I'm sure there were some bumps in the road in the past, but the yearly meet has always happened as well as the majority of the meet's sub-events.

If for some reason go-karts does not happen, there are a thousand other things to do in Indy that don't involve a bar. Since my plan was to go to a bar / restaurant on Thursday night anyway, I'm in a good place 8)
And as for the drags? I'll be there if they happen, I'll do something else if they don't. Hell, maybe I'll cook for everyone...

The Museum is nice, the zoo is nice...I'd avoid Broad Ripple at all costs at night they have been having issues with some guy jumping out of the bushes and stabbing people at night. He stabbed 13 people the other night just walking down the road.

There is a ton to do in Indy just in case stuff falls through

I understand that. I've been on the list since before Milwaukee Berettafest when I got my first car. My point was about the people who are on the list and not the website. There is information in one place, or the other mostly. If you're gonna do both, stuff needs to be in both places, my example was the go kart sign up.

As the person who distributes all of this info...

I can assure you that I post all information in both the MB (for the people who are on here more often), and the email list (which is delivered to those who are not on the MB everyday). Most often I send the identical message to both - literally copy and paste. In the case of the kart sign up, my message to the email list was actually to direct people to the MB and use the sign up method. This kept that sign up in one location, otherwise you would have people saying "I'm in!" in at least two different media... which can add even more confusion to it.

Bottom line? Trust us :D Most of the people involved with the committee have been around longer than this MB has existed and even when it seems chaotic, procrastinated, or even forgotten - it isn't. We've got you guys covered.

In other news we should be able to move on karts officially soon, and I think an executive decision is going to be made on drag racing to put to rest all of this sillyness! :runsies:

I didn't mean to criticize at all. I just had found a few people who had no idea about the damn sign up and are on both the MB and the mailing list lol. I know you guys have it handled, and an executive decision I think is what this particular thread needs.

I know for sure I appreciate all your hard work Mike!

NP Chad 8) I know how it is on the other side of the fence too. In most people's defense we are all procrastinators... and we easily miss info all the time...

Check out my post in the General section... we are going to move forward with racing, but I need to verify something by phone tomorrow. No Limit Raceway is only 1hr 45min per Mapquest (right from hotel address). That is more than doable, plus we have at least 6-7 of us ready to go. That is enough for me! :D

Hell, I might ride along with someone and just watch, if that's the case... LOL Not putting mine on the strip, not much point in it really.

There's no point in me running save for the pure enjoyment of doing so. Hit the track with us! Especially if you never have! Ity's always nice to know what it can do, even if it is over 15 seconds...

Left a message and emailed No Limit Raceway for uber-confirmation that cars will also be running on 6/24. I don't see an issue of this, but I will post back here when I get the confirmation!
