I just got in a TGP at the local yard. So far I've grabbed up the plenum,MAP sensor, all the vacuum lines and pressure sensors, and charge pipes. The shaft in the turbo has alot of side to side play so I believe its in need of a rebuild. My next trip back I plan on getting the injectors, computer, intercooler, turbo, exhuast manifolds, maybe the crossover and downpipe. Anything else I should get?
I've never done anything like this so it's going to be a fun challenge for me. I've been reading up on turbo's and everything seems to be easy and straightforward when it comes to installing it. The biggest thing I'm going to have trouble with is air, fuel and timing the damn car. God that #### is confusing. Wish me luck.

Were here for you Chazz.....
There should be a little up and down play on the shaft but very little in and out play. If the shaft spins and the impellers do not contact the housings then you will be ok. The turbo has oil lubricated brass bushings and they always have some play in them.

Make sure to get the oil supply line (coming from the port in the block where the oil pressure sensor is) and the oil feed line (goes to the oil pan).
Grab the oil pan too, it should have the fitting on it for the oil return line

I'm not going to worry about the lines since I'm going to be cutting up the crossover to mount the turbo farther forward and over to the drivers side. I prefer to run new lines anyway(stainless braided).
I will be getting the oilpan thanks.

What are the amazing V castings? Last time I went out to the yard the car was moved. It may have been scrapped.
BTW, Santa is bringing me a battery relocation kit.
